Caitlin Clark, the rookie of the Indiana Fever, may owe her teammates a gift or dinner after they appeared to prevent her from getting a crucial technical foul on Sunday against the Dallas Wings.

A video on social media depicted Clark walking back up the court after a turnover. She gazed at the replay and then promptly began to argue with the referee.

Kelsey Mitchell tried to stop Clark from going to the ref, but Aliyah Boston had to physically pull him away and yell "No" to prevent him from getting a technical foul.

If Clark had committed another technical foul, it would have been his seventh of the season, resulting in an automatic suspension and preventing him from playing in the team's final game against the Washington Mystics.

"Clark stated via the Indy Star that he did not anticipate receiving a technical during the night. He would have been disappointed for those in Washington D.C. if it had happened. Although he tried his best, his teammates excel at that task."

Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud, and Teaira McCowan of the Phoenix Mercury and the Wings are the only players to have seven technical fouls this season. If Clark receives her seventh technical foul, she will not be suspended for the upcoming postseason matchup, regardless of whom the Fever play.

Boston and Mitchell were able to prevent Clark from receiving a technical foul due to "good team chemistry stuff," according to Christie Sides, the head coach.

Clark set a career high with 35 points in Indiana’s win.
