In his final weeks in Congress, Sen. Jon Tester is becoming increasingly frustrated with reporters.
On Sunday, President Biden granted his son, Hunter Biden, a pardon, clearing him of any charges for crimes he may have committed between January 2014 and December 2024.
On Monday, Tester responded bluntly to the question about Biden's move to pardon his son.
"He said with a smile, according to CNN and other outlets, that he was one month away from leaving and that someone should be asked for confirmation."
In the 2024 election cycle, one of the most closely watched races was the defeat of three-term Montana Democrat Senator by Republican Navy SEAL Sen.-elect Tim Sheehy.
Democrats on Capitol Hill have been vocal in their opposition to Biden's decision to shield his son from any potential federal charges over the past decade.
Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich, wrote on X that President Biden's decision to pardon his son was incorrect. Family and allies of a president should not receive special treatment. This action misused power, undermined public trust in our government, and encouraged others to manipulate justice for their own gain.
Biden's decision has eroded Americans' belief in the justice system's fairness and equality for all, according to Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo.
Efforts to reach Tester's office for comment at press time were unsuccessful.
