Florida Sheriff Chad Chronister withdraws from consideration as Trump's nominee to head the DEA.
Chronister stated that there is still much work to be accomplished for the residents of Hillsborough County and many initiatives he is dedicated to fulfilling.
Chad Chronister, the Hillsborough County Sheriff, withdrew his name from being considered as President-elect Trump's nominee to head the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
"Being nominated by President-Elect @realDonaldTrump to serve as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration is the greatest honor of my life," Chronister stated in a post on X.
"As the gravity of this responsibility became apparent, I have decided to respectfully withdraw from consideration. There is much work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and many initiatives I am committed to fulfilling," Chronister stated.
"Thank you for the nomination and the overwhelming support from the American people. I am honored to continue serving as Sheriff of Hillsborough County."
In 2017, Rick Scott, the then-Gov. of Florida, appointed Chronister as head of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Since then, he has been re-elected twice.
