Stephen Miller and Dan Scavino are appointed to senior positions in the White House by Trump.
Miller has been appointed as deputy chief of staff for policy and Homeland Security advisor, while Scavino has been named as deputy chief of staff.
The Trump-Vance transition team announced four new cabinet picks on Wednesday, including Dan Scavino and Stephen Miller, as the president-elect continues to fill up his incoming administration at a rapid pace.
Scavino will resume his role as an assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff at the White House, having previously served as the director of social media for the Trump 2016 presidential campaign and continuing to work alongside the president-elect ever since, including his tenure as the White House's director of social media during Trump's first term in office.
The Trump-Vance transition team released a statement stating that Scavino "remains one of President Trump's longest serving and most trusted aides."
In 2022, Scavino was found in contempt of Congress due to his refusal to comply with a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He invoked executive privilege, but the Department of Justice declined to prosecute him.
Miller has been appointed as the deputy chief of staff for policy and Homeland Security advisor. Previously, he served as senior advisor to the president for policy in the Trump White House, where he played a key role in drafting Trump's hard-line speeches and plans on immigration.
After Trump's departure from office, Miller has been the president of America First Legal, a group of former Trump advisors that functions as a conservative version of the American Civil Liberties Union, taking on the Biden administration, media companies, universities, and others on issues such as freedom of speech, religious freedom, and national security.
During his tenure as an assistant to the president, Miller has supported the idea of mass deportations in the event of a second Trump term.
Before meeting with President Biden at the White House, President-elect Trump received an announcement.
James Blair will serve as both the president and deputy chief of staff for legislative, political, and public affairs. As per the statement, Blair previously held the position of political director for the Trump 2024 campaign and the Republican National Committee, where he managed hundreds of staff and oversaw a broad range of political operations and programs.
During his successful 2020 presidential campaign, Blair played a crucial role in Trump's economic messaging, particularly in promoting the "Trump can fix it" slogan and asking audiences if they were better off than four years ago.
As the president-elect's deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel, Taylor Budowich will play a crucial role in shaping the administration's messaging and personnel strategies.
Budowich previously held a senior position in Save America, Trump's leadership PAC, and served as CEO of MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump Super PAC, prior to joining the Trump 2024 campaign.
As Scavino and Miller, Blair and Budowich will also serve as assistants to the president-elect.
"President-elect Trump stated that Dan, Stephen, James, and Taylor were exceptional advisors on his winning campaign and he believes they will serve the American people with integrity in the White House. They will continue to work diligently to Make America Great Again in their new roles."
