Tulsi Gabbard is appointed as the director of national intelligence by Trump: 'Unwavering determination'
Trump referred to the ex-Democrat as a "proud Republican."
On Wednesday, President-elect Trump revealed that Tulsi Gabbard will be his director of national intelligence in the new Cabinet.
Trump stated that Gabbard, who served as a Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii from 2013 to 2021 and later joined the GOP, has fought for the country and the freedoms of all Americans.
"As a former Democratic presidential candidate, Tulsi has gained broad support from both parties. Trump has stated that she will bring a fearless spirit to the Intelligence Community, championing constitutional rights and securing peace through strength. Tulsi will make us all proud."
Earlier on Wednesday, Planet Chronicle Digital reported that Gabbard was being considered for a position in the Trump administration. In September, she expressed her willingness to join the administration, stating that she would be "honored" to do so.
Sarah Rumpf and Morgan Phillips of Planet Chronicle Digital contributed to this report.
