RFK Jr. Faces Investigation over Alleged Whale Beheading
Robert F Kennedy Jr characterizes the investigation as a tool for government oppression.
An investigation into former Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was launched by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) over allegations that he decapitated a dead whale 20 years ago, according to Planet Chronicle Digital.
In August, a controversy arose over a 2012 Town and Country interview with Kick Kennedy, in which she claimed her father once beheaded a washed-up whale with a chainsaw and attached its head to his car before driving it to New York.
Kennedy described the event as an average day for her family.
"The car windows would fill with whale juice every time we accelerated on the highway, and it was the foulest thing on the planet, she said to the outlet. We would wear plastic bags with mouth holes cut out while driving on the highway, and people would give us the middle finger, but that was just a typical day for us."
The agency stated that it does not comment on ongoing investigations when asked about the incident on Tuesday.
During a campaign event for former President Donald Trump on Saturday, Kennedy stated that he was being investigated by the federal government for a decades-old incident.
The ex-presidential candidate, now a Trump ally, claimed at a rally that the investigation was a tool used by the government to target political opponents.
The NOAA should investigate the events described by Kennedy's daughter, who made the claim just days after he suspended his presidential bid to join forces with Trump in August.
The group that backed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in 2024 asserted that Kennedy breached the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act, as whales are safeguarded under those statutes.
