NASA emails with 'Space Czar' Harris and Boeing are being sued by a watchdog group as astronauts remain in orbit.
SpaceX will bring two astronauts back to Earth next year.
The International Space Station (ISS) has been left with two U.S. astronauts for several more months, prompting a conservative watchdog group to sue NASA for documents related to the situation.
On Monday, the executive director of The Oversight Project disclosed to Planet Chronicle Digital that he and his team have legally requested emails between NASA political appointees and the White House, including the office of Vice President Harris, who also holds the title of chair of the National Space Council.
Mike Howell, head of the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project, has filed a request for outgoing emails related to Kamala Harris' presidential campaign, just as she was responsible for addressing the root causes of illegal immigration as the "border czar" and now serves as the lead adviser on space policy in that capacity as vice president.
Kamala Harris, the space czar, appears to have prioritized politics over our astronauts, according to Howell and other experts. This suggests that there may have been a political calculation against bringing astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams home as planned.
"The mainstream media appears uninterested in this significant scandal. We will persist in our investigation to provide Americans with the necessary answers."
The National Space Council (NSpC) was originally structured differently under President George H.W. Bush before being disbanded and restructured under President Trump.
At a 2018 NSpC meeting, the U.S. Space Force was unveiled by Trump himself, marking the first new military branch in decades.
The Oversight Project aims to force NASA to disclose emails from agency head Bale Dalton III, Associate Administrator James Free, and five other top officials, as well as communications between NASA and Boeing officials regarding the commercial crew program and the Starliner capsule that carried Wilmore and Williams to the ISS this summer.
According to a source close to the matter, the NSpC chair's responsibilities, as outlined in Trump's 2021 executive order, are clearly defined.
The President's primary advisor on national space policy and strategy will be the Chair.
The NSpC chair has significant influence over NASA's decision-making, according to the source.
During an August press conference, a NASA representative stated that there was a slight difference in the level of risk assessment between the agency and Boeing following the Starliner capsule's propulsion problems and leaks of elements. Despite this, the Starliner safely landed back on Earth on September 7, without any crew members on board.
Boeing officials maintained their confidence in Starliner's ability to safely return with crew aboard, stating that they continue to support NASA's requests for additional testing, data, analysis, and reviews to confirm the spacecraft's safe undocking and landing capabilities. Their confidence is based on the abundance of valuable testing conducted by Boeing and NASA.
The data supports root cause assessments for the helium and thruster issues and flight rationale for Starliner's return to Earth.
Howell, formerly of Twitter, listed the resumes of several NASA hires made under Harris' leadership, including a former employee of Alvin Bragg's New York County District Attorney's office, a member of the Jacksonville Symphony, and someone with a "political science" major.
The National Space Council is in a dire situation. Kamala Harris is unqualified to lead it. NASA has become a woke-DEI disaster, contributing to their current predicament in space.
NASA DEIA Strategic Plan's "strategic objectives" were shared by Howell in a document copy.
Howell stated on Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris' performance as Border Czar was just as poor as her record as Space Czar.
It is crucial that the public becomes aware of any political correspondence between NASA, the vice president's office, and Boeing, as other nations, such as China, are closely monitoring such "signs of weakness."
""When is enough, enough?" he said, suggesting that the DEIA priority may jeopardize national security."
The astronauts, however, took their extended trip in stride.
"Being in space brings me immense joy," Williams declared.
Although Wilmore will miss his daughter's final year of high school, he requested his absentee ballot on Friday to vote from orbit.
Harris' governmental office and campaign did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry.
NASA spokesperson stated that Harris and NSpC staff were frequently updated on the Starliner Crewed Flight Test.
The National Space Council collaborates with various partners to advance the country's space objectives, but does not provide recommendations or make decisions regarding operational spaceflight safety.
