House Dem leader calls for an end to MAGA movement after 2nd Trump assassination attempt.
'"Extreme MAGA Republicans must be stopped," Rep. Hakeem Jeffries stated.'
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries urged X to stop the "extreme MAGA Republicans" after news broke of a possible second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Jeffries posted on X at 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon that extreme MAGA Republicans are the party of a national abortion ban and Trump's Project 2025.
"We must stop them."
After the assassination attempt on his life, the statement was posted.
On Sunday at approximately 1:30 p.m., authorities in West Palm Beach, Florida, were notified of gunfire at Trump International Golf Club. The Trump campaign released a statement at 2 p.m. stating that the 45th president was safe after being in the vicinity of gunshots.
Jeffries initially posted about stopping "extreme MAGA Republicans," and later, at 5:33 p.m., he condemned the attack against Trump, stating that political violence has no place in a democratic society.
On Monday morning, Trump accused Democrats, specifically President Biden and Vice President Harris, of using inflammatory language that led to the assault on his life.
"Trump stated in an interview that the suspect was influenced by Biden and Harris's rhetoric and took action based on it. Trump added that their words were causing him to be targeted with violence, despite his efforts to save the country, while Biden and Harris were destroying it from within and without."
Trump stated that "the enemy from within" is the real threat.
Trump and Jeffries both accused Harris and X of bias and misinformation regarding their support for Project 2025 and a national abortion ban during their respective debates.
""She was correcting me about Project 2025, abortion, and everything," Trump said."
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, authored Project 2025, which was touted as a blueprint for a future Republican administration. Trump, during his campaign, claimed no involvement in its creation. He also stated that he would not impose a national abortion ban if re-elected, emphasizing that abortion should be left to individual states.
It was confirmed by authorities that the suspect arrested at the golf club on Sunday is Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old Hawaiian resident who frequently posts about Trump and politics on social media, according to Fox Digital.
Routh, who spent most of his life in North Carolina working in construction, including owning a company called United Roofing, is currently residing in Hawaii.
On Sunday afternoon, the suspect's alleged social media accounts contained multiple posts about Trump, the war in Ukraine, the 2020 election, and other global events.
The account commented on Trump's assassination attempt in July and urged Vice President Kamala Harris to visit the injured at the Pennsylvania Trump rally, stating that "Trump will never do anything for them."
On July 17, in a reply message to Harris' account, he stated that they should visit the injured people from the Trump rally in the hospital and attend the funeral of the murdered fireman. Trump will never do anything for them, he said, emphasizing the importance of showing compassion and humanity.
In a previous post on April 22, Routh stated, "Democracy is at stake and we cannot afford to lose."
Your campaign should be named something like KADAF. Preserve America's democracy and freedom. Trump's policies should be MASA...make Americans slaves again, master. Democracy is at stake and we cannot afford to lose. The world is counting on us to lead the way.
In his interview with Fox Digital, Trump claimed that the attacks against him were motivated by Democrats' use of rhetoric to portray him as a "threat to democracy." He pointed out that while Democrats such as Biden and Harris have labeled him as a threat, they have also positioned themselves as leaders of unity.
"Trump stated, "They are the opposite. These are individuals who wish to destroy our nation.""
Routh's X account frequently posted messages about the war in Ukraine, expressing a willingness to fly to Ukraine and confront Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I am traveling to Ukraine to participate in a fight. It is crucial that we launch a media campaign to motivate people worldwide to gather in Ukraine and contribute to the struggle. We require a massive number of civilians to increase the financial burden of war on Putin and attract a large number of fighters," he wrote on February 17, 2022.
In April, he declared his intention to fight for Ukraine and then posted in the same month that he was in Kyiv.
The account posted that they are in Kyiv and want to establish a tent city in Independence Park to attract more foreign civilians and support Ukraine.
Routh's criminal record in North Carolina spans several decades, with numerous arrests for traffic violations, including driving without insurance, license, and registration.
In 2002, Routh was arrested at his roofing company's office after a three-hour standoff with police. He had been pulled over during a traffic stop and put his hand on a gun, leading him to drive to United Roofing and barricade himself in the building. He was ultimately arrested without incident.
On Sunday afternoon, Routh was apprehended following accusations of pointing a rifle through a chain-link fence and aiming it at Trump while the latter was playing golf, according to authorities.
Routh fled the scene in his car but was arrested on I-95.
He was seen laughing and smiling ahead of his first court appearance, despite appearing in federal court Monday morning wearing shackles and jail scrubs.
He may face additional charges for possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, in addition to charges of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon, authorities said.
Routh will be arraigned on Sept. 30.
Trump assured his supporters that he was safe and well, while vowing never to surrender.
"In my vicinity, there were gunshots, but before rumors spread, I wanted you to know first: I am safe and well!" he posted in a campaign message. "Nothing will stop me. I will never surrender."
Jeffries' office did not respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry about his X post and Trump's comments on the attempt Sunday.
