During a Michigan event, Trump stated that only "presidents who make consequential decisions" are targeted by assassins.
Trump's first event since surviving a second assassination attempt occurred in Flint, Michigan.
In Flint, Michigan, former President Donald Trump stated that it is "consequential" presidents who face the threats he has experienced in the past few months during a town hall event, which was his first since surviving an assassination attempt on Sunday.
During a town hall at Flint's Dort Financial Center, Trump stated, "You know, only consequential presidents get shot at right."
Trump's first official campaign stop since the recent assassination attempt occurred on Sunday at Trump International Golf Club in Florida, where a lone gunman was spotted by U.S. Secret Service agents while Trump was playing golf.
Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old man, was identified as the gunman who fired at President Trump while he was playing golf. The Secret Service agents spotted Routh's rifle and scope protruding from the brush as Trump moved between holes five and six on the course.
At the time of the incident, Trump, who was approximately 300-500 yards away from the shooter, remained unharmed.
Trump faced an assassination attempt for the second time, two months after being grazed in the ear by a bullet during a rally in Butlery, Pennsylvania.
During the Michigan event, Trump pondered on the attempts made on his life, stating that being the president and running for office is a perilous undertaking.
"Being president is a little bit dangerous, but it's not as dangerous as they think race car driving is. In fact, they think bull riding is more dangerous. That's pretty scary, right? However, this is a dangerous business, and we have to keep it safe," Trump said.
During the event in a swing state, the former president frequently criticized Vice President Kamala Harris on topics such as inflation and the automotive industry.
""If I don't win, Michigan will lose its auto industry within two to three years, as China will take over all of their business due to the electric car and their access to the necessary materials," Trump stated."
In the upcoming election, Michigan is expected to be a crucial state, with Trump winning it by a narrow margin in 2016 and losing it to Biden by a similarly small margin in 2020.
As of Tuesday, the Real Clear Politics polling average shows a close race in the state, with Harris leading by less than one percentage point.
