Biden to Announce Exit from 2024 Presidential Race from Oval Office.
No announcement has been made by the White House regarding when Biden will make a public statement about his decision to forgo the 2024 presidential race.
On Wednesday, President Biden will speak to the country about his choice not to run for president in 2024.
The White House announced that Biden will deliver an address from the Oval Office to discuss his decision to exit the presidential race and his plans for the remaining six months of his first term.
On Tuesday, the president will make his first public appearance in six days after returning to the capital from his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Biden has not been seen in public since he tested positive for COVID-19 last week. He made his only public statement about withdrawing from the 2024 presidential election on Monday during a call to Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign headquarters.
The president will depart from Delaware at 12:30 p.m., fly from Dover Air Force Base to Joint Base Andrews to return to the White House at around 2:30 p.m., and receive his daily briefing at 3 p.m. There are no public events on his schedule.
In a letter released on X Sunday, Biden stated that he believes it is in the "best interest of my party and the country for me to step down and concentrate solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the rest of my term."
He stated that he would provide more details about his decision later this week, but did not specify the time, location, or method of his address.
Last week, Biden began self-isolating after reportedly testing positive for COVID-19. He was last seen publicly on July 17.
On Friday, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the physician to the president, wrote in a letter updating Biden's medical condition that he had completed his sixth dose of PAXLOVID this morning.
Biden's cough and hoarseness are still present, but his symptoms are improving, according to O'Connor's letter released by the White House.
"The doctor stated that the patient's pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature are all within normal limits. Additionally, the patient's oxygen saturation remains excellent on room air, and their lungs are clear."
The CDC reports that the KP .2.3 variant, which accounts for about 33.3% of new infections in the US, has been identified in Biden.
"The President remains capable of carrying out his presidential responsibilities and will continue taking PAXLOVID as scheduled, according to the letter."
On Thursday, Biden will meet with Netanyahu at the White House. Netanyahu arrived in the U.S. less than 24 hours after Biden announced he wouldn't seek re-election.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu will deliver a speech to Congress, though Harris reportedly declined to preside over the address, according to the Washington Post. Before leaving Israel for D.C., Netanyahu stated that his country would remain committed to the U.S. "regardless of who the American people select as their next president."
The leader stated that in the current period of conflict and ambiguity, it is crucial for Israel's adversaries to be aware that America and Israel maintain a united front.
This week, Netanyahu requested a meeting with former President Trump, as reported by Politico. However, it is uncertain if Trump accepted the invitation.
