A new poll reveals which candidate has the advantage in the crucial swing states.
Pennsylvania, with 19 electoral votes, is the largest of the seven crucial general election presidential battleground states.
A recent poll conducted after the debate shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Trump by three points in Pennsylvania, which is considered a crucial battleground state in the general election.
In Pennsylvania, among likely voters, the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris, leads the GOP nominee, Trump, 49%-46%, according to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll conducted from September 11th to 14th.
The poll's margin of error of 4.4 percentage points is the same as the difference in the vice president's advantage over the former president among the 500 respondents.
The poll was released on Monday, 50 days before Election Day on November 5, following the second assassination attempt against Trump that occurred before Sunday.
Pennsylvania, along with Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada, were crucial in determining the outcome of the 2020 election between Trump and Biden. These seven states are likely to play a significant role in deciding the 2024 presidential election between Harris and Trump.
Pennsylvania is the largest of the key battlegrounds with 19 electoral votes at stake. Despite the campaigns and their allied super PACs pouring resources into all seven states, more money has been spent to run spots in Pennsylvania than any of the other battlegrounds. Additionally, both sides have dished out more dollars to reserve airtime in Pennsylvania than any of the other swing states, according to figures from AdImpact, a top national ad tracking firm.
The "Blue Wall" in the Rust Belt region comprises Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, which are all Democratic states.
For 25 years, the party consistently won all three states until Trump narrowly captured them in the 2016 election, securing his victory in the White House.
In 2020, Biden won all three states by narrow margins, defeating Trump and returning them to the Democrats' fold.
Two post-debate surveys conducted in Erie and Northampton counties, which are traditionally predictive of Pennsylvania's presidential vote, show Vice President Biden leading President Trump by mid-single digits.
The gender gap is benefiting Harris, giving her an overall advantage over Trump, as indicated by all three surveys.
In the statewide survey, Harris outperforms Trump by 17 points among female voters, while Trump leads Biden by a narrower 12 points among men. Harris also has a wider lead among women in Erie and Northampton counties.
"According to Suffolk University Political Research director Dave Paleologos, the women's advantage in the polls is equivalent to Trump's edge among men multiplied by two."
The first survey conducted in Pennsylvania after the debate, held in Philadelphia, was the USA Today/Suffolk survey. Prior to this, a CBS News survey conducted in early September, during the week before the debate, showed a tied race in the Keystone State.
"Mark Harris, a longtime Republican national strategist and ad maker, stated in an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital that Pennsylvania is the state where it is most difficult to see someone losing the presidential race and then still winning it. He referred to it as "ground zero.""
