Oprah says Harris' statement about shooting intruders was inappropriate.
During her debate with former President Trump, Harris stated that she and Tim Walz were gun owners.
During a virtual campaign rally, Vice President Kamala Harris stunned Oprah Winfrey by stating that any intruder attempting to enter her home would be met with a lethal response.
The "Unite for America Rally" was a livestream event hosted by Winfrey, featuring celebrities and stories from citizens nationwide.
During the presidential debate last week, Winfrey expressed surprise when Harris disclosed that she owned a gun.
"Winfrey exclaimed, 'I did not know that, and I thought that was powerful.'"
"If someone breaks into my house, they'll be shot, no apologies," Harris said, chuckling.
Winfrey responded with "Yes, I hear that" twice.
"I shouldn't have said that," Harris admitted as everyone chuckled. "My team will handle it later."
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment.
During the presidential debate, Harris stated, "I have consistently expressed my stance on fracking, and regarding gun ownership, Walz and I are both firearm owners. We are not taking anyone's guns away. Please cease spreading falsehoods about this matter."
In 2007, a video emerged of Harris, then San Francisco's district attorney, stating that police officers were allowed to enter the homes of legal gun owners and examine how they stored their weapons.
At the time, Harris stated that everyone in the community must exhibit responsible behaviors, regardless of whether they legally own a gun in their locked homes. He emphasized that just because they possess a firearm in their private spaces does not exempt them from being checked for responsible and safe conduct of their affairs.
Harris' comments on Thursday sparked criticism from social media users, who highlighted her past advocacy for mandatory gun buybacks and stricter gun control measures.
Kamala has stated that she would shoot an intruder who enters her home, then apologizes for her words. However, she has consistently advocated for gun control and will implement it if elected. While she prioritizes security for herself, she does not extend the same protection to others.
Stephen Miller, a contributing editor at The Spectator, concurred with the statement that Kamala Harris supported mandatory gun buyback programs. Perhaps a journalist with a strong professional reputation would investigate this further.
Larry Eldern, a conservative radio host, wrote, "'Guns for me, not for thee.'"
Oprah Winfrey has around-the-clock protection from the Secret Service, but it's you and your family that she wants to screw out of protection, according to Townhall.com columnist Derek Hunter.
The "Unite for America Rally" was organized by the "Win with Black Women" group in support of the vice president. Over 140 other grassroots organizations participated in the virtual rally, including "White Women: Answer the Call," "Latinas for Harris," and "White Dudes for Harris."
The event, attended by 400 people in Oakland County, Michigan, included a speech by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, as well as virtual appearances from celebrities such as Bryan Cranston, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Jennifer Lopez, Tracee Ellis Ross, Julia Roberts, and Meryl Streep.
