Zachery Ty Bryan's DUI arrests may have been a result of his fame as a child star on 'Home Improvement'.
At 12 years old, Zachery Ty Bryan portrayed Tim Allen's eldest son on the hit television show 'Home Improvement'.
The popularity of "Home Improvement" in the '90s may have been overwhelming for some of its young actors as they grew to love the characters.
Richard Karn, the actor who portrayed Al Borland on the show, stated that Zachery Ty Bryan's early fame might have contributed to his current issues, including multiple DUI arrests.
Karn stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that it is a strange occurrence when 12-year-olds have the ability to purchase a house for their parents, which may be related to their growing sense of self and ego.
This year, Bryan, 43, was arrested twice for driving under the influence, and Karn made comments about it.
In October, Bryan declined to undergo a breathalyzer test during his DUI arrest and expressed remorse to law enforcement for enjoying alcohol.
At the time, Bryan told Tpr. Kendrick Johnson, "I'm just a good dude, man. I don't know why everybody – I'm sorry I like to drink."
From 1991 to 1999, Bryan played Tim Allen's oldest son in the renowned sitcom.
Richard Karn, the star of "Home Improvement," reacts to Zacchery Ty Bryan's arrests.
Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, played by Allen, hosted the home improvement show "Tool Time." Along with his on-screen wife Jill, they raised three boys, including Bryan.
Karn discussed the post-"Home Improvement" activities of Johnathan Taylor Thomas and Taran Noah Smith.
"Jonathan is striving to become a director. Taran is excelling in providing potable water to Third World countries, and Zac encountered difficulties with his marriage."
In 2020, Bryan encountered legal issues following an argument with his girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, at their Eugene, Oregon apartment. At the time, he was married to Carly Matros and they had four children together.
Thomas, who starred in "Home Improvement" from 1991 to 1998, also voiced the role of young Simba in "The Lion King" in 1994. He left the show to focus on his education.
While working on "Home Improvement," Smith also appeared in "7th Heaven" and "Batman Beyond."
Smith, at the age of 17, was involved in a legal dispute with his parents over control of his $1.5 million trust fund. He accused them of mismanaging the funds. Despite their estrangement in 2016, Smith and his mother eventually reconciled, as reported in an interview with Headline and Global News.
Karn revealed to Planet Chronicle Digital which "Home Improvement" cast members he remains close to after more than 30 years since the show's premiere.
I maintain contact with Tim and Debbe Dunning, the actress who portrayed the 'Tool Time' girl. I haven't had much interaction with Pam Anderson lately; we're simply on different paths.
Occasionally, I spot the boys and Patricia Richardson. Earl Hindman's passing is unfortunate because he lived life to the fullest.
"Two years ago, Tim and I did a History Channel show together called 'Assembly Required.' The second season was called 'More Power' because they thought we didn't assemble well," Karn joked.
Pamela Anderson was a Playboy model when Karn first met her on the set of "Home Improvement." Karn described her as "very fun and bubbly" and noted that they both grew up in a small town on Vancouver Island.
Anderson was once asked to sign a Playboy magazine by Karn's father, who was a big fan.
Richard Karn, the star of 'Home Improvement,' confesses that he did not realize Pamela Anderson was a Playboy model.
He revealed that when he discovered Pam Anderson was the 'Tool Time' girl, he brought her a Playboy copy the next time he visited.
Pam was so nonchalant and nice about it, saying, "Oh no, Mr. Karn, here, let me sign your copy of it." It was from ten years earlier, but still, that was my dad. He did that, Karn laughed.
Whether Karn sees a potential new "Home Improvement" series in the future, he told Planet Chronicle Digital.
"Considering a reboot would be enjoyable to contemplate, I'm unsure about the reality and its potential direction. While I don't envision a reboot, the idea resonates."
Karn stated that he thinks "Home Improvement" continues to resonate with audiences because it conveyed "family values." He added that the show was "wholesome and enjoyable."
