TikTok is criticized by Michael Rapaport as a "dirty" and "biased" platform.
TikTok resumed service on January 19 after being offline for approximately 12 hours due to the impending ban in the US.
Over the weekend, TikTok was criticized by actor and comedian Michael Rapaport as a "biased" and "dirty" platform.
Before the app shut down, Rapaport's video was posted, and it was linked to the Chinese Communist government through its parent company, ByteDance. Last year, Congress passed a law that required TikTok to be sold to an American company or face a ban in the U.S., with a deadline of January 19.
"TikTok-ers, Rapaport said, "You did it yourself. You can say what you want about Elon Musk and Zuckerberg. At least we have a face to complain to. We can tweet and DM them. We could even put our face on wax and scream and yell at them.""
"We don't know who has been running this platform," he said. "This platform is dirty and biased. It's a mess here. I've seen some crazy things on TikTok. You brought this on yourself."
On Sunday, TikTok service was restored for U.S. users after being offline for approximately 12 hours.
A message on TikTok stated that President Trump would work with the Chinese-owned company to resolve the national security issue before the app stopped functioning. Rapaport questioned the identity of the person behind the video app in his rant.
"We don't know who the f--- has been running this platform. This platform is dirty. This platform is biased. It's d--- near soft p--- on here. I've seen some crazy s--- on TikTok. You did it to yourself." — Michael Rapaport
"Facebook, Instagram, X, WhatsApp, Snapchat may have their flaws, but at least we know who's in charge. On the other hand, TikTok and the vile antisemitic, anti-Jewish, anti-Israel soft porn platform are a mystery. Goodbye, TikTok."
TikTok has gained popularity among users, including Rapaport, who has amassed 4.5 million followers on his account.
Recently, the "True Romance" actor gained notoriety for criticizing California Gov. Gavin Newsom's management of the Los Angeles fires in a viral post.
Newsom was criticized by Rapaport for discussing "Trump-proofing" California instead of "fire-proofing" the state.
The 54-year-old said in a video he posted to Instagram on Jan. 14 about the Southern California fires, which destroyed thousands of homes and businesses, that he is only talking about Trump this and that, but he is not even president.
He said of Newsom, 'Get the f--- out of here!' and mocked, 'We’ll do better next time. We need to learn from our mistakes.'
""Those days are over; you're not running for sixth-grade class president," he stated."
"You turned out to be a great artist, despite being a little jerk," Rapaport said.
