At the 60th presidential inauguration ceremony held inside the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol on Monday morning, Underwood sang "America the Beautiful".
After no musical cue would play, the country music star had to improvise.
In front of former President Biden, Underwood discovered that the instrumental track was not functioning, prompting her to improvise.
Before singing a cappella, she requested assistance from those who knew the words. After her performance, she applauded those who had sung along and then turned around to shake Biden's hand.
She then shared a moment with Trump and Vance before leaving the room.
Last week, it was announced that Underwood, who has been absent from politics, would perform at Trump's inauguration.
The country superstar expressed their love for their country and gratitude for being invited to sing at the inauguration and be a part of the historic event in a statement.
"I am honored to respond to the summons during a moment when we must collectively unite and focus on the path ahead."
