Francisco San Martin, who played Dario Hernandez in "Days of Our Lives," has passed away at the age of 39.

On January 16, San Martin took his own life at his home, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of death was a ligature hanging.

In 2011, the actor portrayed a thief in a soap opera who later became an investigator. Later, in 2016, Jordi Vilasuso took over the role of Hernandez. Meanwhile, San Martin was featured on "Days of Our Lives" for six months.

His other film credits include "Behind The Candelabra," starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, in 2013.

Forbes reported that Camila Banus, San Martin's "Days of Our Lives" co-star, paid tribute to the late actor.

In Mallorca, Spain, San Martin was born and raised. He started his acting career in children's theater. After returning to Spain to live with his family in Madrid during his teenage years, he worked as a model and took acting lessons. San Martin later appeared in numerous stage, television, and film productions in Spain.

The "Days of Our Lives" 60th anniversary is later this year, and San Martin passed away shortly after.
