Nelly electrifies President Trump's Liberty Ball, silencing critics.
Following President Trump's inauguration, Jason Aldean also graced the stage at the Liberty Ball.
On Monday night, at the Liberty Ball, Nelly and Jason Aldean performed to celebrate President Trump's inauguration as the 47th president of the United States.
Nelly performed some of his greatest songs, such as "Ride Wit Me" and "Hot in Herre," during his concert. He also acknowledged the individuals affected by the California wildfires.
Ahead of his performance, the 50-year-old rapper faced backlash from the public.
The St. Louis native stated in a live conversation with Willie D that he is not performing for financial gain, but rather as an act of honor and respect for the office.
"It doesn't matter who is in office. Our men and women, our brothers and sisters who serve this country, must go to war and risk their lives for whoever is in power," the rapper, who was born on a military base, stated.
"If they are willing to risk their lives for whoever is in office, then I am confident in my ability to deliver for whoever is in office."
"I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this 'cause it’s an honor. I respect the office." — Nelly
According to a source close to Nelly, the 50-year-old artist's aunts and uncles all served in the military to protect democracy and the right to vote. Although Nelly has stayed away from politics and wouldn't participate in campaigning, he considers his performance to be an honor.
Nelly defended Trump against accusations of being a White supremacist during a conversation with Willie D., stating that she would need evidence to support such claims.
"The rapper earlier stated that politics is no longer relevant to him since his preferred candidate has won the presidency. He considers himself the commander in chief of the best country in the world."
Regardless of who is in office, it is an honor for me to perform for the president of the United States. If President Biden had asked me to perform, I would have performed. If Vice President Kamala Harris had won and asked me to perform, I would have performed.
Nelly took the stage after Aldean sang several songs in Washington, D.C.
During his performance, the country star received praise from fans on social media.

Aldean paused his concert to attend to a medical emergency among the spectators.
"Security or whoever, we have someone down here who needs medical attention," Aldean said while stopping the show.
After confirming that the individual was receiving medical care, the country singer resumed performing "She's Country."
At the 60th presidential inauguration ceremony held inside the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol on Monday morning, Carrie Underwood sang "America the Beautiful".
After no musical cue would play, the country music star had to improvise.
In front of former President Joe Biden, Underwood discovered that the instrumental track was not functioning, prompting her to improvise.
Before singing a cappella, she requested assistance from those who knew the words. After her performance, she applauded those who joined her in singing and then shook Biden's hand.
She shared a moment with Trump and Vice President JD Vance before leaving the room.
Last week, it was announced that Underwood, who has been absent from politics, would perform at Trump's inauguration.
The country superstar expressed their love for their country and gratitude for being invited to sing at the inauguration and be a part of the historic event in a statement.
"I am honored to respond to the summons during a moment when we must collectively unite and focus on the path ahead."
