'Who's the Boss' actor undergoes emergency surgery following Thanksgiving mishap.
From 1984 to 1992, Danny Pintauro was the star of 'Who's the Boss'.
On Thanksgiving, Danny Pintauro, the former "Who's the Boss" child star, was hospitalized after an accident while riding his scooter.
Pintauro, who portrayed Jonathan Bower on the popular sitcom, posted a video slideshow on Instagram, showcasing images of himself from the hospital, stating that he underwent emergency surgery to mend a tear in his stomach. He suffered the injury while riding his scooter on Thanksgiving night when the bike lane he was in was "suddenly obstructed with cones."
"I was forced to choose between a van and a pylon," his post read. "The pylons hurt! I had a terrible scrape on my arm and was convinced I had broken it. The next morning, it was much better, so I didn't worry as much."
On Saturday, Nov. 30, he started experiencing severe chest pains that spread across his stomach and shoulder muscles, making it difficult for him to breathe.
Wil Tabares drove Pintauro to the hospital after the accident caused a tear in his stomach lining, resulting in an infection in his bloodstream and air and stomach acid escaping into his abdomen.
Pintauro shared on Sunday that the discovery led to emergency surgery last night to repair the tear, which he described as "the most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my whole life."
"The surgery was successful, and although the pain has mostly subsided, I am still quite sore. However, they have removed the intubation tube, but I must keep another tube in my stomach for three days to prevent any acid from upsetting the stitches. This also means that I won't be able to eat or drink anything for the next three days."

Pintauro realized the importance of listening to his body after reflecting on how the situation could have ended differently for him. He said, "If I had waited any longer, I could have died."
He thanked his "wonderful husband" for staying by his side, as well as the doctors and nurses at Memorial Care Miller Hospital, who are taking care of him.
"Unfortunately, my upcoming surgery will delay the completion of any Book Nooks I was working on, so I will need to adjust the shipping dates. I hope this is acceptable. Although this is my first major surgery and my first emergency surgery ever, I managed to stay calm throughout the experience. It was incredibly frightening."
He continued: "If anyone would like to send me flowers, I wouldn't mind. Just kidding, I'm stressed, hungry, in pain, and exhausted. Light a candle for me, please. Oh, they did an X-ray of my arm and it's not broken. That's one bright side."
"Who's the Boss" featured Pintauro as a regular cast member for nearly 200 episodes across eight seasons, from 1984 to 1992, alongside Tony Danza, Judith Light, Alyssa Milano, and Katherine Helmond.
After the conclusion of the series, Pintauro opted to remain low-key and shifted his focus to a new career. He has appeared in a few projects since then, including "The Quarantine Bunch" in 2020 and "A Country Christmas Harmony" in 2022.
