Belfort was given a four-year prison sentence for his offenses but served only 22 months before being released.

The Wolf of Wall Street" received five Oscar nominations, with DiCaprio being recognized for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Hill for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.

The movie was nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year, and both Scorsese and Winter received nominations for their work on the film.
