Wes Bentley, who plays Yellowstone's character, acknowledges that the character's violent actions affect him in real life.
In all 5 seasons of 'Yellowstone,' John Dutton's son, Jamie, is portrayed by Wes Bentley.
Wes Bentley has confessed that his portrayal of "Yellowstone" character has impacted his personal life.
The actor has stated that portraying Jamie Dutton for five seasons has been a significant challenge.
"As an actor, I relish challenges and have faced many in my career. However, none have been as daunting as this one. Each scene written by Taylor Sheridan was emotionally charged and presented a unique challenge."
He stated that he found it fulfilling to tackle challenging tasks and hoped he had done a good job.
Bentley revealed that he doesn't "really relate" to the traits of Jamie Dutton, which has affected his "actual existence."
"That's been the most rewarding and challenging because Jamie is a character I don't really identify well with at all and have a hard time living with, you know, he's got a lot of baggage, a lot of heavy things to carry the load with." — Wes Bentley
"Jamie is a character I don't identify with well and have a hard time living with, as he carries a lot of baggage and heavy things. Despite the challenges, I don't complain about it because it has been rewarding in my real life," Bentley said.
In 2023, Bentley revealed to the New York Times that it was challenging to depict the most "detested" character on the successful Western.
Wes Bentley, who plays the murderous character in 'Yellowstone,' reveals that the show's violent themes affect him in real life.
"At that time, Bentley stated that he was incredibly sad. He had always dealt with his sadness by using humor, drugs, or ignoring it and finding another way out. However, when trying to portray someone's sadness, one must let it be there. This has been the most challenging aspect for him, and it has weighed heavily on his life."
Although Bentley usually feels confident in leaving problems behind when he finishes work on set, this time it has been more difficult.
"Despite not feeling sad myself, Jamie's sadness affects my life. I am fortunate to have a wonderful family and be in a good place, but his presence is always a reminder of the struggles he faces, especially when I am performing."
The second half of the fifth season of "Yellowstone" began on Nov. 10 without Kevin Costner.
Planet Chronicle Digital was informed by Bentley that Costner, who portrayed John Dutton, was a significant contributor to the show, and he wishes him well.
"Kevin was a great person to work with, and he has been for years. However, in TV, things can change quickly, and sometimes our favorite characters are no longer with us. But we're grateful for the time we had with Kevin and will miss him dearly," Bentley said.
In June, Costner expressed disappointment to People about how the rumors surrounding his exit were handled by production.
He said at the time, 'I loved the show. I liked the people on the show. I liked what it was about. I love that world.'
The show aired the first half of the fifth season late last year and took a break for the holidays. They were scheduled to resume filming at the beginning of the new year, but that was postponed until this summer.
The scripts were not available, and Costner was prepared to continue. He stated that the show had stopped for 14 months, and he was unaware of the holdup that had occurred.
Before the announcement that Paramount Network was airing the final episodes of season 5 on November 10, Costner stated that he was aware of the online speculation surrounding his departure and was disappointed by the lack of support from production.
"He expressed disappointment that no one on their side had ever defended his actions, leading him to think, 'When will someone speak up about what I have done instead of what I haven't?'"
Although he was disappointed, Costner stated that he would still be interested in returning to tie up any remaining loose ends.
"He stated in June that he had always believed it would be an intriguing time to return and complete the mythology of this contemporary family. If that occurred, he would enter it if he concurred with its execution."
He stated that in the end, he had done all he could for it.
The Dutton family's struggle to save their family ranch in Montana is chronicled in "Yellowstone," featuring a star-studded cast including Bentley, Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Cole Hauser.
Talks are ongoing for a sixth season of the Paramount show, despite the original plan to end after season 5, according to Deadline.
According to sources, no deals have been reached in August, but it is likely that "Yellowstone" will continue with Hauser and Reilly as the leads.
In August, Paramount declined to comment on the report that was reached out to by Planet Chronicle Digital.
