Wayne Northrop, a star on "Days of Our Lives," has passed away at the age of 77.
Cynthia Snyder, his representative, confirmed the news to Planet Chronicle Digital on behalf of his family.
Lynn Herring Northrop, wife of Wayne, who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's 6 years ago, stated that he took his last breath on November 29.
We thank The Motion Picture and Television Home for taking great care of him. Wayne touched many people with his sense of humor and wit. He was a husband for 43 years, the best dad ever to his two boys, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who loved his cows and was a friend to many.
Northrop portrayed Roman Brady on "Days of Our Lives" for two three-year terms, from 1981 to 1984 and 1991 to 1994, alongside Deidra Hall as Dr. Marlena Evans. He later returned to the show as Dr. Alex North in 2005, totaling 1,000 appearances.
He starred in "Port Charles" on ABC and made appearances on "Dynasty."
In the early stages of his career, he appeared as a guest on programs such as "The Waltons," "Baretta," and "Eight is Enough."
Robert and Donna Jean Northrop welcomed Northrop into the world on April 12, 1947, in Sumner, Washington.
After graduating with a BA in communications from the University of Washington, he traveled through Europe and became fluent in German. Upon his return to the U.S., he enrolled in an acting class at Seattle Community College.
In 1975, after receiving positive feedback on his acting in class, he relocated to Hollywood and joined the newly established Los Angeles Actors' Theatre, led by Ralph Waite. Soon after, he landed his first role in "Police Story."
In 1981, Northrop and his wife, Lynn Herring, a fellow actress and "General Hospital" star, got married and welcomed two sons, Hank and Grady.
For 35 years, Northrop and Lynn ran a cattle ranch in Raymond, California, while staying true to their environmental beliefs and supporting wildlife and conservation causes. Additionally, they purchased the oldest house in the city and turned it into a museum for tourists, earning it a spot on the historical places registry.
Janet Northrop, the actor's wife, sons, and stepmother, survived him.
