Valerie Bertinelli confesses to experiencing 'shame' following her two divorces.
Previously, Bertinelli was married to both Eddie Van Halen and Tom Vitale.
Could a third marriage be in Valerie Bertinelli's future, despite already taking another shot at love?
The actress, who recently landed a new job on "The Drew Barrymore Show" as a lifestyle expert, gave an intriguing answer when the subject of remarrying was brought up.
Kaley Cuoco, known for her role in "The Big Bang Theory," recently got engaged to Tom Pelphrey.
Bertinelli and Barrymore, both of whom have had tumultuous histories in the love department, discussed whether they would ever take that leap of faith again.
"Barrymore's statement, "When you get a divorce, it's so shameful," deeply resonated with Bertinelli, causing her to think, "I'll do anything to avoid that shame again.""
"If you're in love, then good for her, Bertinelli said of Cuoco. "Never say never" is what she has learned at her age."
Bertinelli did not explicitly state that she would not commit to getting married again, as Barrymore asked.
"Bertinelli confessed that he has experienced shame twice in his life, and that it has had a profound impact on him. He believes that shame is a gradual process that builds up over time, and that the key to feeling confident and worthy is to release it."
"I think the key to feeling beautiful and feeling like you're worthy and feeling like you are enough is to release a lot of that shame." — Valerie Bertinelli
Bertinelli and Van Halen were previously married, with their wedding taking place in 1981. However, the couple separated in 2001, and their divorce was finalized in 2007.
In 2011, she married financial planner Tom Vitale, but they separated in 2021 and were officially divorced a year later.
Bertinelli stated, "While there is good shame, there is also bad shame that leads to self-loathing. My current focus is on addressing the latter."
"As long as you're not harming anyone, do what feels good and what you want to do," she said.
Bertinelli is currently in a long-distance relationship with writer Mike Goodnough, despite their busy schedules.
Goodnough and Bertinelli have previously stated that they would not go more than three weeks without seeing each other.
