"My parents, who are now deceased, played a significant role in shaping me into the person I am today. My sister is accompanying me tonight because Garth Brooks couldn't make it. It's all about family and the impact of upbringing."
I always say, 'I don't always do the right thing, but I know what the right thing is because of how I was raised.' It's my family.

Yearwood is honored for being the first recipient of the award and for honoring June Carter Cash.
"I'm honored to be in the same sentence as her, who embodied the idea of giving back," Yearwood said.
