The feud between Prince William and Prince Harry may finally come to an end with the help of Princess Diana's family, according to an expert.
Earl Charles Spencer, the Duke of Sussex's uncle, welcomed him at Althorp House, the ancestral home of Princess Diana, where he stayed during his visit.
The royal family aims to resolve the conflict between Prince William and Prince Harry.
During his recent trip to the U.K., Harry visited Althorp House, the ancestral home of his late mother, People magazine reported. The Duke of Sussex stayed with his uncle, Earl Charles Spencer, following an appearance at a memorial for his late uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes.
The earl's representative did not promptly respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry for a comment.
According to several royal experts, the Spencers are willing to facilitate peace talks between Diana's sons, who have not spoken since Harry left his role as a senior royal in 2020.
At Diana's funeral, Earl Spencer vowed to always care for his nephews William and Harry, as reported by royal expert Ian Pelham Turner.
"It is no surprise to me that Harry stayed at Althorp recently because they have been very close since that time," said Pelham Turner. "Harry can rely upon Earl Spencer. And no doubt, behind the scenes, the earl has been trying to build bridges with the brothers."
Althorp could serve as a secure temporary location for Harry and his family if they decide to return to Britain, as Pelham Turner pointed out, even though nothing is certain.
Diana's sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, was married to Fellowes. According to People magazine, the service was attended by Prince William and Lady Sarah McCorquodale. The outlet noted that the service was held two days before the 27th anniversary of Diana's death, on Aug. 31.
In 1997, at the age of 36, the princess was buried on the island in the middle of Round Oval Lake at Althorp, as reported by the outlet.
"Royal expert Hilary Fordwich claimed that the brothers didn't speak during the funeral, but the family made sure to inform Prince William about Harry's return, which he didn't object to. This gives hope for a possible reconciliation in the future."
""Their aunt Jane is the only person who can mediate between the two brothers," said Fordwich."
"The Spencer family has been closely connected to the royals for centuries and has been working to reconcile Prince William and Harry."
Harry has a strained relationship with his family and has seen his father infrequently since the couple quit royal duties in 2020. The couple cited unbearable intrusions and racist attitudes of the British press as the reasons for stepping back as senior royals. Harry's father has since detailed his rocky relationship with his family in TV interviews, a documentary, and his memoir, "Spare."
In "Spare," Harry details his rivalry with William.
In the book, Harry claimed that in 2019, William insulted his wife and physically attacked him, causing him injuries. Harry also stated that Charles urged them to reconcile after the death of their father, Prince Philip, in 2021.
Harry's spokesperson stated that King Charles III was too occupied to meet with his son when Harry returned to London in May for the Invictus Games anniversary.
According to People magazine, while the brothers were present at the Fellowes funeral service at St. Mary's Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, they sat apart from each other and with different groups of their paternal cousins.
"One of the 300 attendees reported that most people were astonished that Harry came. He was in excellent spirits and appeared delighted to see everyone. Additionally, he was pleased that he had come over."
"Earl Spencer promised at the funeral of his sister Diana… to constantly look after his nephews William and Harry." — Ian Pelham Turner, royal expert
The Spencer family has appeared to back the Sussexes since their departure from the royal family. It was reported that Diana's sisters were among the 20-30 attendees at Princess Lilibet's christening in California.
In 2021, Harry was photographed with his aunts at Kensington Palace, where he unveiled a statue of his deceased mother alongside William. The brothers were embraced warmly by the women with kisses and hugs.
According to Kinsey Schofield, host of the To Di For Daily podcast, it seems that Lady Jane Fellowes desires a reconciliation – for their mother.
"Diana's death led Jane to attempt to organize their sporting events. Some speculate that Jane is a Godparent to Prince Archie. However, I believe that the Spencer family is not attempting to orchestrate a truce. Earl Spencer, at the request of Prince William, intervened and cautioned Prince Harry about rushing into his relationship with Meghan Markle. There has been a consistent effort to keep Harry out of trouble."
After the release of tell-alls, Prince Harry's future remains uncertain, according to a royal expert.
"Schofield warned, "I would advise Harry to be careful. If it seems like he is trying to establish a rival court in the U.K. through the Spencer family, I believe Prince William will intervene.""
Diana's sisters are resolute in safeguarding Harry as a tribute to their deceased sister, according to Christopher Andersen, author of "The King."
"Andersen stated that the Sussexes and Diana's family are sending a message through their actions, indicating that even if the royals reject them, Harry, Meghan, and their children will always have the support of Diana's family."
"Lady Sarah and Lady Jane were proxies for Diana at the christening because she couldn't attend. It's touching to consider the situation."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are establishing their presence in California, where they live with their two young children.
