Southern California has been hit hard by wildfires in recent days, leaving neighborhoods in ruins and devastating families, homes, schools, and medical care centers. As a result, tens of thousands of people from all walks of life have been affected. In response to the crisis, a state of emergency has been declared.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a list of organizations assisting wildfire victims.
The organizations World Central Kitchen, Animal Wellness Foundation, Compton Cowboys, Airbnb, and 211LA are providing support for those affected by the fires. World Central Kitchen is offering meals for first responders and people displaced, while Animal Wellness Foundation is housing and caring for evacuated animals. Compton Cowboys is providing emergency transportation services for horses, and Airbnb and 211LA have joined forces to offer free temporary housing to those who have been displaced.
The same organizations that Harry and Meghan listed, including Baby2Baby, All Power Books, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, are working to support firefighters and provide essential supplies to those affected by the fires.
The couple also urged others to aid victims if they can, such as by providing housing for evacuees, visiting elderly or disabled neighbors to offer assistance with evacuation, and donating items like clothing and toys.
"The pair urged people to donate clothing, children's toys, and other essentials to families and individuals who have lost everything."
The American Red Cross is on the ground offering aid to those in need.
