The Billboard Music Awards' country takeover by Zach Bryan and Morgan Wallen is 'what we need': host.
The 2024 Billboard Music Awards will be hosted by comedian Michelle Buteau on FOX on Thursday night.
At the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, Zach Bryan leads the way with 21 nominations, while Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen follow closely behind, indicating a dominance of country music.
Michelle Buteau, comedian and Billboard Music Awards host, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that music has the ability to transcend various barriers such as neighborhood, religion, and gender.
Bryan and Wallen are nominated in several categories, including top artist, top streaming songs artist, and top Billboard 100 and 200, as well as top country artist and country male artist.
Buteau stated, "Music unites people like comedy does. I enjoy singing songs that others don't think I know the words to, creating a shared experience. For me, it all boils down to art and culture."
The comedian, who has hosted "The Circle" on Netflix and appeared in "Marry Me" and "Babes," expressed excitement about being asked to host the show.
The host of the Billboard Music Awards believes that Zach Bryan's country takeover is what is needed.
Watching something all the time is exciting, but being a part of it and having a great time is even better. It's like, I want to do this all the time. It's incredible. I'm like, how do I become Ryan Seacrest in a plus-size dress?
Despite not leading the nominations at this year's ceremony, Swift holds the record for the most decorated female BBMA artist of all time, adding to her impressive two-year run on "The Eras Tour."
"Music is music at the end of the day, and it can transcend neighborhood, religion, gender, so many things." — Michelle Buteau
"Can we just take a moment to applaud Taylor? Despite the challenges, she has been working hard and her good knees have been carrying her through. Buteau joked, "I walk my dogs and have to bend over to pick up their messes. And I'm like, wow, you can really stretch more often. Taylor is out here doing it for everyone and everyone, all over the world.""
"She fills the room with love. That's why it's not in the nominations. It's in the feeling," she said.
As host, Buteau stated that remaining impartial on her preferred candidate is effortless, and ultimately, the audience's reaction will determine the winner.
"Either way, we can't lose. We only learn, and they're just amazing artists that we're shaking our booties to, you know what I mean? So at the end of the day, they're just amazing artists," she added.
The BBMAs will showcase performances by several nominees, including country artists Shaboozey, Jelly Roll, and Megan Moroney, as well as Coldplay, Linkin Park, Tyla, Teddy Swims, and K-pop groups SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids.
Gijs van der Most and his wife, a mom of 5-year-old twins, are excited to watch the show despite her work schedule.
My husband is going to babysit so I can work and see my favorite performers. I'm excited about the prospect of someone bringing me water, a meal, and wine, which is a big deal for me.
The host of the Billboard Music Awards commended Taylor Swift's "Good Knees" after the conclusion of her "Eras" tour.
Beyoncé's "Renaissance Tour" date in Amsterdam was attended by Buteau with her husband for Father's Day, but she missed "The Eras Tour."
She lived vicariously through others' Instagram stories, like many people.
Buteau stated that she loves watching people share adorable moments of Taylor Swift bringing her boyfriend on stage and other events in London. These experiences make her feel like she is a part of it too. As a result, she enjoys long tours because she feels like she has a deep understanding of them.
My daughter and I still sing ‘Cruel Summer’ on the way to school, as she added, 'I have all the bracelets, I'm doing all the things.'
