Taylor Swift receives apology after Billboard uses footage of her wax figure in a nude state.
Kanye West featured a nude wax figure of Kim Kardashian in his 2016 'Famous' music video without her consent.
On Thursday, the Billboard website issued an apology for a video montage of Taylor Swift that mistakenly included a clip from a Kanye West video featuring a wax figure resembling the pop singer in a nude bed with him.
"The magazine apologized to Taylor Swift and its readers and viewers for falsely depicting her in a video celebrating her achievements. The clip has been removed from the video, and the magazine deeply regrets the harm caused by the error."
Billboard's apology for the clip that was "falsely depicting" was stated in a community note on X. The clip in question was a video from Ye's "Famous" music video, which featured a naked Taylor Swift wax figure recreation, along with other celebrity men and women. This type of content is illegal in most U.S. states.
In the 2016 music video "Famous," Kanye West portrayed himself in bed with Taylor Swift, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, President-elect Trump, Anna Wintour, and Rihanna, and asserted that he was responsible for Swift's fame.
"In the song, he raps, "I made that b---- famous," and adds, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex.""
For the past 15 years, the relationship between the two musicians has been tumultuous, dating back to when West interrupted Taylor Swift's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech to assert that Beyoncé should have won the award instead.
Billboard had posted a video montage on its Instagram page featuring Swift's career highlights after naming her the second-greatest pop star of the 21st century. The number one spot will be unveiled next week.
Before the magazine added a mea culpa in a note on the same Instagram post, several commenters urged the magazine to publicly apologize to Taylor Swift.
Swift did not immediately respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
