Taylor Swift and the Beatles compete for the record of the year at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
The 2025 Grammy Awards have nominated Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and The Beatles for record of the year.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and The Beatles will be competing against each other.
The Recording Academy unveiled its complete list of Grammy nominations on Friday, and the Beatles received their first nod since 1997 for their latest track, "Now and Then." Additionally, the band was recognized for the same song in the best rock performance category.
In 2023, the Beatles released their final new song, "Now and Then," which was created with the help of artificial intelligence. The technology used in this song is the same as that used to separate the Beatles' voices from background sounds during the production of Peter Jackson's 2021 documentary series, "The Beatles: Get Back."
This year, Beyoncé received the most nominations with 11, surpassing Taylor Swift's six nominations.
The record of the year category will feature Swift, Beyoncé, and the Beatles in a fierce competition.
Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, stated in a People article that today we celebrate the outstanding creative accomplishments of our music industry.
"It was an incredible year in music, and these nominations reflect the work of a voting body that is more representative of the music community than ever before." — Harvey Mason Jr.
"The Grammy Awards, which recognize music's most outstanding achievements, have become the most coveted award in the industry. This is because the recognition comes from one's peers, and the voting body that selects the winners is more representative of the music community than ever before. I am grateful for the Academy's 13,000 voting members who take the time to evaluate all the amazing music, cast their votes, and honor their peers. Congratulations to all the nominees."
The 67th annual Grammy Awards will be held Feb. 2.
Since 2010, the 2025 award show will feature a head-to-head competition between Beyoncé and Swift for the album of the year award. Both artists' albums, "Cowboy Carter" and "The Tortured Poets Department," have been recognized in the category.
The Recording Academy's all-time record for nominations has been broken by Beyoncé, who has a total of 99 nominations at the upcoming award show.
