Sylvester Stallone's request to safeguard his $35 million mansion in Palm Beach sparks controversy among neighbors.
In 2021, Sylvester Stallone, known for his role in 'Rocky', bought a South Florida property.
Despite the opposition of his affluent, water-front community, Sylvester Stallone intends to proceed with his plans to construct an underwater barrier near his Palm Beach home.
According to The Palm Beach Post, Stallone, 78, intends to construct a seaweed barrier in the Intracoastal Waterway near his $35 million mansion.
The Army Corps stated in a public notice that the purpose of the environmental project aimed at preventing debris and seaweed from entering the waterway is to exclude boaters from the property. Seaweed is considered a secondary concern.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection reportedly requested comments on Stallone's project from neighbors, who were blindsided by the proposal and have until 5 p.m. on Christmas Day to respond, according to the outlet.
According to records, the "Rocky" actor requested a lease of state land due to the positioning of the barrier, which is owned by the state, in his application.
"Stallone's neighbor Bradford Gary revealed that he bought a stunning property, which he described as "one of the nicest West Indies houses" in the North End. He added, "I can understand why you'd want to safeguard it. However, you can't simply claim ownership over the water.""
Stallone's representatives did not promptly respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's inquiry for comment.
In 2021, it was reported that Stallone purchased a $35 million lakefront home, which spans 1.5 acres and offers stunning views of over 250 feet of beach with a dock.
The total living space, including a main house, a guest house, and a pool pavilion, is over 13,000 square feet. The property has a total of seven bedrooms and 12 baths between the main and guest spaces.
The Army Corps received plans for a barrier application in August 2023, which was submitted in January. A month-long public comment period began on October 24, during which one question was submitted about the potential impact of the project on manatees and seagrasses.
The Army Corps is reviewing the project's purpose to determine if the use of barriers to deter boaters in the public waterway is allowed, according to The Palm Beach Post.
Susan Gary and her husband Bradford were notified of the public-comment period only after it had closed, making it too late for them to voice their concerns.
"Typically, when your neighbors plan to do something in Palm Beach, they call," Gary said. "Many neighbors express concern."
Stallone discussed his decision to relocate to the East Coast in his Netflix documentary "Sly," stating that it was advantageous to his creativity.
Sylvester Stallone's wife reveals positive aspects of their relocation to Florida.
He explained that not moving because of wanting another beautiful view was a paradigm shift that jump-started the process again.
Flavin clarified that the main reason for their move was change, not any crime concerns expressed by certain celebrities.
Crime is prevalent everywhere, including in Florida, so the mother of three did not relocate due to it. It can be found in any location, even in small towns, the mother stated.
"While I believe California is undoubtedly the most stunning state in the US, I've grown tired of it and yearned for a change. I've spent enough time there, and life is too short to remain stagnant. Thus, I decided to switch things up and explore new places."
