Hollywood's attitude towards female empowerment is being criticized by Sydney Sweeney.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the 27-year-old actress criticized the entertainment industry's slogan "women empowering other women" as being "insincere."

During an interview, Sweeney was questioned about a past incident where a female producer criticized his physical appearance and talent on "Euphoria."

Sweeney expressed disappointment at seeing women undermine each other, particularly when successful women in their industry see promising young talent working diligently to achieve their dreams and then attempt to belittle and discredit their efforts.

"The industry is often portrayed as empowering women, but in reality, it is not happening. It is all a facade for the other negative things that are said about people behind their backs."

The Emmy Award nominee pondered on the reasons why women may not genuinely support one another.

There are numerous studies and differing opinions on the reasons behind it. Throughout our lives, we have been taught, as part of a generational issue, to believe that only one woman can be at the top. This belief is that there is one woman who can get the man, and one woman who can be anything.

The actress from "White Lotus" stated, "Instead of fighting each other or bringing down one woman, we should all uplift each other."

"I am still trying to understand it. I am simply doing my best over here. What is the reason for the attacks?"

At the Jacob Burns Film Center in New York, Carol Baum, a longtime film producer, attended a screening of her 1988 movie "Dead Ringers" and later criticized Sweeney's appearance and acting skills, as reported by the Daily Mail.

According to reports, during a panel discussion following the screening, Baum stated, "Sydney Sweeney is an actress who is currently adored by everyone. However, I personally don't understand the appeal of Sydney Sweeney."

On a plane, the producer remembered watching Sweeney's popular film "Anyone But You."

Baum said, "I wanted to know who she is and why everyone's talking about her. I watched this unwatchable movie — sorry to people who love this movie — a romantic comedy where they hate each other."

Baum, a professor at the University of Southern California, stated, "During my class, I asked, 'Why is this girl so popular? She's not attractive and can't act.'

The crowd was informed by the producer that no one had a response to her query.

A representative for Sweeney gave a scathing statement on Baum's remarks to Planet Chronicle Digital when asked for comment.

"It's disheartening to see a woman in a position to share her expertise and experience attacking another woman," the statement stated. "If that's the lesson she's learned in her decades in the industry and believes is appropriate to teach her students, it's a shameful reflection of her character. To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms Baum's character."

Since the 1980s, Baum has been creating films, including "Father of the Bride," "Fly Away Home," and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

In 2020, Sweeney founded her production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, after her successful acting breakthrough in "Euphoria" in 2019. She also starred in and produced the horror movie "Immaculate," which was released in March. Additionally, she served as the executive producer for "Anyone But You."
