Stevie Nicks advises Katy Perry to stay away from the internet.
The Fleetwood Mac singer admitted that her iPhone isn't connected to a network, as she dislikes the internet.
Stevie Nicks shared some words of wisdom with Katy Perry.
Several years ago, the Fleetwood Mac singer, 76, discussed the internet with Perry, 40, and advised him to stay away from it.
Nicki Minaj revealed to Rolling Stone that Katy Perry had spoken to her about the internet armies of girl singers being cruel and rancid around 10 years ago.
She asked, 'Who are your rivals?' I replied, 'I don't know because I'm not online.'
In reply, she gave Nicks a "steely look" without saying a word.
She recalled telling her, "Katy, I don't have rivals, I have friends. All the other women singers I know are friends. There's no competition. Go off the internet, and you won't have rivals either."
About the internet, she said, "I hate it."
Since the technology has changed significantly since Fleetwood Mac's peak, Nicks has conceded that she no longer hopes to achieve another hit record.
"I mean, all the people my age have given up on hit records a long time ago," she shared. "With everything streaming, it’s like 300,000 plays. It’s like, ‘What is that?’ I don’t know how to maneuver myself around that."
She stated, "I'm not interested in it because I'm the only one who isn't constantly on my phone."
Despite having an iPhone, the "Silver Springs" singer stated that it is not linked to a network.
"It’s just a camera," she said.
In her interview, Nicks discussed social media and stated that it would have been detrimental if it had been available during Fleetwood Mac's peak fame.
"We were never pursued by paparazzi," she stated. "Our admirers always revered us and treated us with kindness. No one pursued us. It was always enjoyable. It was never frightening. It was never unsettling. I couldn't imagine living like that."
Nicks also discussed other current pop singers, including Taylor Swift and Chappell Roan, after speaking about Perry.
"It's evident that Roan enjoys my music greatly," she stated. "My friend and I checked her schedule, and it was unbelievable. The amount of work she's already accomplished and what she's yet to do is astounding. It's just as bad as any schedule we've ever had, and she's new and young."
She continued, "I said, 'They'll burn her out if that's what they want to do, because there's always somebody to replace you.' It must make them all very fearful. That's why it's good that Chappell just said, 'Well, go ahead, replace me. I'm canceling, because I'm not going to drop dead for all you people.'
During the interview, she revealed that she hasn't taken off the friendship bracelet Swift gifted her nearly a year ago.
"She is really smart, but she also went through a lot before," she said. "She’s in a good place right now, and I think she has a good man," referring to NFL star Travis Kelce.
"I wish for them to deepen their love and ride off into the sunset. He does his part, and she does hers, and then they reunite and get married and start a family if she desires. All I want is that for her."
