Speculation about the future of the 'Yellowstone' show continues after Kevin Costner's departure.
In the premiere of 'Yellowstone' season 5B, John Dutton, portrayed by Kevin Costner, met his demise.
After Sunday's episode of "Yellowstone," viewers noticed a potential hint about the show's future.
The upcoming Dec. 15 episode is the "season finale" of "Yellowstone," which has sparked speculation about the show's future.
"One viewer wrote on X: "That was one of the best hours of television, EVER. My goodness. One question though – How in the world will they wrap all of this up in 2 episodes?" Additionally, the viewer noted that the season finale line was used instead of the series finale line, which was not overlooked."
Did anyone notice that the previews for "Yellowstone" season finale stated that it was not the series finale? Are there any hints that there will be another season?
Planet Chronicle Digital has reached out to the show for comment.
Reports suggest that negotiations for a sixth season of the Paramount show are ongoing, with a new lead in mind.
Sources informed the outlet that no deals had been struck at the time, but it is likely that "Yellowstone" will continue with Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly as the leads.
The second half of "Yellowstone" season five premiered on Nov. 10 without the presence of Kevin Costner.
"…I know that there’s some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor [Sheridan's] ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself, and some of the other cast. I’m excited to see where he goes creatively with that. But right now, it’s just: Let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can." — Cole Hauser
Hauser previously hinted at a possible spinoff show in April.
"Hauser stated to Country Living that he is highly focused on completing 'Yellowstone' in the correct manner at the moment, specifically referring to the show itself. He added that they will see where this leads."
"Hauser stated, "While I am aware that Taylor has plans for Kelly Reilly and me, as well as other cast members, I am eager to see how he will creatively develop those ideas. Currently, our focus is on completing our tasks to the best of our abilities.""

In September, Hauser told Planet Chronicle Digital that he is a "hired gun" and does not have the authority to make all the decisions.
At the time, Hauser stated that although he couldn't comment on the matter, he believed it would be fantastic to see the thing happen, but there were many different individuals involved in making that decision.
"I am a hired gun, not a producer or studio head, but I hope it happens because it would be enjoyable."
In the first episode of the second half of season five of "Yellowstone," John Dutton's murder was staged as a suicide, and while viewers were not pleased with the moment, "Yellowstone" director Christina Voros praised it.
"Taylor found it more interesting to focus on the aftermath of the incident rather than the incident itself, as Voros stated in The Hollywood Reporter."
"Birth and death are the two fundamental experiences in human life, yet they are also the most mundane aspects of being human. What makes birth and death fascinating is not the events themselves, but how they impact us as individuals. For me, I believe that was the motivation behind telling the story in this manner. He wondered, 'How do others cope and what do they do?' And that's where the intrigue lies. That is where the solution lies. That is where the story lies."
After five seasons, the "Yellowstone" star left "Field of Dreams".
In 2023, Costner's drama "Yellowstone" was thrust into the limelight as he and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner battled over child custody in court. Planet Chronicle Digital uncovered the reasons behind the breakdown between Costner and show executives during the courtroom proceedings.
According to the actor, although Costner was "offered" to "do season 6," it was "complicated."
"He explained that they had negotiated, but there were creative issues. He attempted to resolve the impasse, but they left."
It appears that Costner faced difficulties with the timing of filming "Yellowstone" as he prioritized his current project, "Horizon." At the time, the first movie in the four-part series was in post-production, a crucial stage of putting everything together. Costner emphasized, "I'm here."
"During the filming process of 'Yellowstone,' they decided to make changes, which affected 'Horizon.' I had planned to do my movie 'Horizon' and leave the show, then do B. However, I was only working on a show once a year, but now it was being done twice."
