Small towns are where you can truly 'live the dream', says HGTV stars.
The couple, Ben and Erin Napier, star in HGTV's 'Home Town,' where they revitalize a small Mississippi town through home renovations.
Ben and Erin Napier of HGTV aim to reveal the authentic small-town living experience through their show.
In "Home Town," Ben and Erin work to restore historical homes using found materials and old textiles in their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi.
"Erin stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that people often have a clear idea of what living in a small town entails and what it doesn't. She hopes that by watching "Home Town," viewers will gain a better understanding of how to achieve their dream lifestyle."
"In a small town, you can have a hot sauce and salsa farm, build a school for underserved children, and do anything you want. That's the fun story we love to tell."
"People just have it in their mind what it is to live in a small town and what it isn't. And I hope that the more you watch 'Home Town,' the more you see that you can live the dream." — Erin Napier
Erin and Ben have been together for 20 years. The couple met in 2004, while Erin was a sophomore in college. Erin had a crush on Ben before they officially met, as she previously shared in a series of Instagram posts.
Erin and Ben collaborated on the yearbook photoshoot after being chosen for the interview. They spent several days working together.
"Erin wrote on Instagram that by December 13, Ben had met both her parents. Despite having no money and prospects, they instantly loved him and said so, even though they had never tolerated any boys before. They had been inseparable for 6 days, and Ben's shirts were imprinted with Erin's lip gloss on the chest because she wasn't used to hugging someone so tall yet."
"Ben and I never stopped talking after meeting. We had 19 and 21 years to catch up on, and there was no detail too trivial. Six days after meeting, and two days before we would be on a one-month Christmas break apart, he told me, "I think I'm in love with you." I replied, "I'm in love with you too." He then said, "I'm going to marry you," to which I responded, "Yes, that sounds perfect.""
In January 2016, the couple's TV show "Home Town" debuted, with Ben and Erin focusing on revitalizing the town of Laurel, Mississippi.
HGTV celebrities demonstrate how to achieve the dream lifestyle in a small-town setting.
The couple claims that the latest season is full of "numerous firsts."
Erin stated that the first six episodes were a departure from their previous work.
""We're tearing down a house, building a school, and adding a garden and greenhouse. It's a lot of work," Ben said."
This season, the biggest challenge for Ben and Erin was finding a balance between their work and parenting their two daughters.
"Erin remarked that as first-time parents, they were constantly learning and adapting to their roles. The biggest challenge was to excel in their jobs and become the best parents they could be."
Erin and Ben have two daughters, Helen, 6, and Mae, 3. Occasionally, Helen accompanies them to work, as stated by Erin.
"She works with us after school most days and I feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be," she wrote on Instagram in May. "We're enjoying our cake (doing work we love) and eating it too (feeling like a stay at home mom)."
"Erin expressed her excitement about Mae growing older and being able to join them safely, as she eagerly absorbs their conversations and is enamored with her maturing personality. Despite missing Mae's youthful exuberance, she is deeply in love with the emerging adult version of her little one."
"Home Town" premieres Dec. 29 on HGTV.
