Matt Damon is one step closer to being an empty nester.
Damon, 53, and his wife Luciana, 48, have four daughters. The departure of their second child, Isabella, for college has been a "major adjustment" for them.
He told E! News that it's still a major adjustment for him and his sisters, despite the fact that they've gone through this before with their 26-year-old.
"With one fewer person in the household, it's a significant adjustment."
According to an Instagram post from her high school, Isabella, 18, is studying at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
In May, Bella's school wrote a letter to her, expressing their admiration for her unique blend of observational wit, thoughtful prose, and unwavering self-assurance. Her teachers cherished the depth and creativity she brought to Word Flirt, while her peers were inspired by her fearless individuality. Her confident embrace of her identity served as a beacon of inspiration for all of them.
In July, E! News reported that Damon considered the idea of her not being at home as "a lot."
He explained that time becomes surreal as you age, and it feels like yesterday when you were holding her.
"It’s a different household with one less person there. So, it’s a big adjustment." — Matt Damon
The whole family, including Isabella, Alexia, Gia, Stella, and Luciana, accompanied Damon to the New York premiere of his film "The Instigators" earlier this summer.
In the photo, Damon was holding Gia's hand while his wife led him away from the carpet. He glanced back at his two older daughters, who were still partially in the photo.
Isabella and her father appear to have a humorous bond, and Damon has mentioned her lack of enthusiasm for her job in the past.
On "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in 2023, Damon revealed that Isabella enjoyed teasing him.
"He shared that she likes to give him a hard time and is very clear about not wanting to see anything that he's in if she thinks it might be good. If he gets bad reviews in something, that's the one she wants to see."
"The Great Wall," which Damon released in 2016, he labeled as "not very good," and he gave a humorous example of it.
"My daughter was discussing a movie with her friend, and she kept referring to it as 'The Wall.' I eventually corrected her, saying, 'Isabella, that movie is called "The Great Wall."' To which she responded, 'Dad, there's nothing great about that movie,'" he said.
