Shifty Shellshock, the frontman of Crazy Town, passed away due to an overdose and a broken heart, according to his manager.
Seth Binzer, known as Shifty Shellshock, passed away on June 24.
Howie Hubberman, the band's manager, confirmed that Shifty Shellshock, the lead singer of Crazy Town, died of an overdose at the age of 49.
"Shifty, the last touring member of Crazy Town, lived up to his name as a performer and friend. Tragically, he died of an overdose and a broken heart, as he sought to get upright and make peace with his world. Unfortunately, our system failed him, and if we had succeeded, Shifty would still be here."
Seth Binzer, known as Shellshock, passed away on Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's website.
Hubberman stated that Soleil Moon Frye, Seth's former girlfriend about two years ago, had shot a documentary about Shifty, which is supposed to be amazing.
In his last Instagram post on April 28, Shellshock shared an image of a man in black among people in white with the text "Real is rare, fake is everywhere." His caption read, "To those who remain despite my efforts to scare them away."
The musician posted a cryptic message on Instagram, stating that the black sheep, odd ducks, rejects, eccentrics, loners, and lost and forgotten individuals often have the most beautiful souls.
Shellshock, a celebrity who appeared on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab" and "Sober House" in 2008, has been open about his addiction struggles throughout his life.
In a 2001 interview with Rolling Stone, Shellshock spoke about the challenges of maintaining sobriety while on tour.
Shellshock recounted how he intended to demonstrate the consequences of his drug use by showing others what happens when he gets high: everything falls apart and the band ends. He remembered saying, "If you guys don't get sober with me, I'm going to go start a sober band." However, while making this statement, he was smoking crack. He was a chaotic fireball.
"He stated, "I was evading my emotions by immersing myself in madness, and I loved it. I had to drag myself along the bottom before I could save myself. I wouldn't be such a skilled drug user if I wasn't such a skilled jerk selling them. People might look at me and think, 'He's got it going on.' And I do. But at the same time, I struggle to keep it together. I have a drug problem.""
