Shailene Woodley admits that discussing her ex-boyfriend Aaron Rodgers often causes her to break down in tears.

Shailene Woodley revealed the reason behind her infrequent talks about her past relationship with Aaron Rodgers.

The 33-year-old actress confessed in a recent interview with Outside magazine that she hasn't shared much about her former relationship with the 41-year-old NFL star because it brings her to tears.

"The "Big Little Lies" star said that although it was not right, it was beautiful after her eyes welled up."

Woodley and Rodgers initially kept their relationship a secret, sparking dating rumors in July 2020. They went public with their engagement a few days before the announcement, in February 2021. However, they called off their engagement in February 2022 and briefly reconciled before splitting up in April.

In her interview with Outside, Woodley revealed that she experienced a traumatic event in early 2022 while being in a toxic situation. Despite empathizing with someone else, she chose not to leave the situation.

Woodley stated that possessing "empathy" has made him feel everything for everyone, keeping him in a loop.

"Woodley, an environmental activist, knew he was depressed when he looked at a tree and felt nothing. That was the lowest point of his life."

Kris Zero, Woodley's stylist and best friend, helped her overcome depression.

"Woodley stated that he would become enraged with Zero at times, but after surfing together, he would think that life could be okay again for ten minutes. However, the depression would return, and Zero would suggest volunteering at a horse ranch. They would then find a random horse ranch and clean up horse manure."

"She remembered the day they cleaned hooves and brushed horses, and for 20 minutes she thought life could be okay again. But then the depression returned, and the next morning she woke her up and said, "Let's go on a hike and bring trash bags to clean up trash!""

After six months, Woodley started to recover from her depression.

In February 2022, after their initial separation, Rodgers paid tribute to Woodley on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to pursue her and eventually become a part of her life.

He expressed his gratitude for always having his back, the kindness he showed him and others, and for demonstrating what unconditional love looks like.

In a September interview with Bustle, Woodley revealed the reason for their split by expressing their dislike for pretentious behavior.

"The Emmy Award nominee stated that they are not interested in the performance of others at the moment, as they believe that external values placed on everything are meaningless. They find the act of pretending to be someone else in order to receive love, acceptance, or work from others to be the ultimate form of soul death."

Woodley stated that her opposition to performative behavior stems from her past experience of having a "broken heart."

"She shared that her heart had healed and been broken again, and how she repeatedly fell in love with unavailability. She is an open person who loves easily and cares easily, but does not love or care lightly."

"Woodley stated that it took him a considerable amount of time to comprehend that it was not his responsibility to repair or mend the relationship, but rather to safeguard the profound affection and love he had for the world and his people. As a result, he was able to depart without the necessity to understand why things did not unfold as he had hoped."

"I give all of myself in relationships," she stated. "I used to be a person who would continue to give despite disrespect, but now when you cross me, I respectfully leave and say, 'Thank you for the information. Have a beautiful life. I wish you well.' Not interested."
