Salma Hayek and her billionaire husband attended the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral after donating $113 million for its restoration.
In Paris, French fashion mogul François-Henri Pinault was among the attendees at a Catholic landmark alongside President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and first lady Jill Biden.
Notre Dame Cathedral was reopened on Saturday, with over 1,500 guests in attendance, including Salma Hayek and her billionaire husband, François-Henri Pinault.
At the ceremony in Paris, Hayek and Pinault were among the notable international figures present, alongside President-elect Donald Trump, first lady Jill Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Britain's Prince William, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In 2019, Kering, the French luxury group owned by Pinault's family, committed $113 million to aid in the restoration of the 850-year-old church.
Hayek expressed his awe and honor at the reopening of Notre-Dame, a symbol of resilience and hope, in English before translating into French on social media.
Pinault's father, François, founded the $22 billion brand, which also owns Alexander McQueen and Christie's auction house. Pinault's net worth is estimated at $7 billion.
"Honored and standing in awe at the reopening of Notre-Dame—a true moment in history and a symbol of resilience and hope." — Salma Hayek, in a social post
The Pinault family, LVMH Group, and L'Oreal committed to donating $565 million to rebuild the cathedral after it was damaged by a fire that destroyed its 19th-century spire in April 2019.
The Pinaults made it clear that they would not be utilizing French tax credits in addition to their donation.
"Hayek expressed pride in being part of the Pinault family on Instagram, citing their personal involvement in the reconstruction of Notre-Dame de Paris and their decision not to claim tax deductions for their contribution."
Her husband and father-in-law are two generous French citizens who deeply appreciate the significance of this spiritual, cultural, and historical treasure from Paris to the world.
Hayek, who was raised by a wealthy family in the coastal city of Coatzacoalcos in Mexico, gained fame after starring in the 1995 film "Desperado."
In 2009, she married Pinault and they have a daughter, Valentina, together. She is also a stepmother to Pinault's children from previous relationships, including Augustin "Auggie," as well as his children from his first marriage, François and Mathilde.
