Prince Harry avoided an awkward encounter with his estranged brother Prince William at the royal wedding by skipping the event, according to an expert.
The strained relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dates back to 2020, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex resigned from their royal duties.
Prince Harry has avoided yet another run-in with estranged brother Prince William.
On Friday, the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson got married at Chester Cathedral in northern England, and while the Duke of Sussex was invited, Harry declined to attend to avoid an "awkward" encounter with William.
"According to British royals expert Hilary Fordwich, Hugh is very friendly and tactful. He has maintained friendships with both Prince William and Prince Harry. During a phone call, Prince Harry, who had been invited, suggested that it would be too awkward for Hugh to attend the event. Prince William, who is an usher, would have found it uncomfortable to have Hugh usher him to his seat."
The newlyweds were the center of attention on their special day, and both brothers wanted to ensure that they remained the focus.
According to Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," if Harry attended the wedding and sat in the back row, the media coverage and excitement surrounding the two brothers being in the same room would outshine the wedding itself, as reported by Planet Chronicle Digital.
"Harry's presence would have turned the affair into a media circus, and he didn't want to do that to his friend. If he learned that Harry had accepted the invitation, it's likely that William would have backed out. Harry knows this."
""William is not willing to give an inch, as evidenced by the lack of any indication that he is willing to compromise," he concluded."
The royal exit of Harry and Meghan Markle in 2020 has caused a rift between the brothers.
The British media's racist attitudes and unbearable intrusions were the reasons for the couple's departure.
The couple, who moved to Montecito, California, recently sat for a two-hour TV interview with Oprah Winfrey and launched a six-part Netflix docuseries about their life together. Additionally, Harry released his best-selling memoir "Spare."
The brothers did not communicate or acknowledge each other during the king's coronation in May.
In February, after being diagnosed with cancer, Charles invited Harry to visit him in the U.K.
At the time, Fordwich informed Planet Chronicle Digital that Harry was reportedly not permitted to remain at any royal residences and did not have the opportunity to reunite with William.
Harry traveled to London last month to take part in a panel commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. Despite the celebration of his own cause, royal observers informed Planet Chronicle Digital that Harry's visit to the UK would not lead to a reconciliation with his family.
"Andersen stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that the drama between the brothers and their wives had resulted in bitterness among all parties involved. As a result, the possibility of a meeting between Harry and the rest of the royal family, let alone reconciliation, appears highly unlikely."
Planet Chronicle Digital's Stephanie Nolasco contributed to this post.
