Police arrested Rob Lowe and Michael J. Fox for smoking pot in a "clown car" filled with celebrities.
Since his rehab stint in 1990, the Brat Pack member has remained sober.
Rob Lowe took a wild trip down memory lane.
Recently, the star of "The Outsiders" recounted a memorable bus ride with Michael J. Fox and other celebrities, during which they were caught by police for smoking pot in 1986.
Lowe discussed a bus tour through California for Prop 65, which aimed to clean up the water system, on Ted Danson's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" podcast.
"We were pulled over for speeding and smoking pot out of the Greyhound bus roof, but there were two different buses."
We were pulled over by a cop, and it was like a clown car — out came Whoopi Goldberg, Cher, Judd Nelson, Michael J. Fox, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Robert Downey Jr., Jane Fonda, and Danny Glover.
Michael and I were smoking pot when the Greyhound bus was pulled over, as Danson asked why.
"We had the top emergency hatch off, Michael and I, and we were smoking pot." — Rob Lowe
Planet Chronicle Digital did not receive an immediate response from Lowe and Fox when requested for comment.
Rob Lowe reflects on the 40th anniversary of "The Outsiders" and shares his emotional experience working on the film.
After opening up about his sobriety journey, the former Brat Pack member shares his story.
Lowe stated that his journey to sobriety, which began over 30 years ago, was a gradual process.
He previously contemplated the evening he didn't answer his mother's call regarding his grandfather's heart attack, which he considered his "final wake-up call."
He recounted the memory vividly: "Yesterday, I remember my mom's voice on the answering machine urging me to 'Pick up, pick up,' because my grandpa had a heart attack. I was too overwhelmed to handle it at that moment and needed to rest to face it later." Upon reaching his bedroom, he turned to alcohol, consuming tequila.
Since that was the final wake-up call, I've been sober ever since. He added, 'Who doesn't keep a bottle of Cuervo Gold by their bedside table?'
The 60-year-old finally went to rehab later that year, in 1990.
"The decision to get sober was a gradual process, taking small steps until one is ready. It's not possible until you're truly prepared," the "Unstable" star confessed.
Lowe stated that the 1975 film "Shampoo," which portrays a lecherous hairdresser, was a "baby step" towards sobriety.
"Warren Beatty's character in the movie was portrayed as a charming playboy, but Lowe emphasized that he was ultimately left with nothing at the end. This scene had a significant impact on Lowe and marked the beginning of his realization of the importance of paying attention to his conscience and destiny."
