Phil Spector, the late producer and convicted murderer, allegedly behaved strangely and requested sex from Cher when she was just 15 years old.
Cher's memoir, 'Cher: Part One: The Memoir: Part One of a Two-Part Memoir from the Iconic Artist and Actor,' provides insight into her life and career.
In her memoir, "Cher: The Memoir, Part One," Cher is making a startling assertion regarding the late music producer Phil Spector.
According to a report in The New York Post, the "Believe" singer alleges that Spector made a sexual proposal to her when she was only 15 years old, after they met through her ex-boyfriend, musician Antonino LoTempio.
She wrote that he may have been seen as a demigod by many, but his behavior was strange, and she found his gaze unsettling.
She alleged that Spector asked to sleep with her in French.
He asked me to sleep with him, smirking and saying, 'Do you want to sleep with me?'
I replied 'Yes, for the money' without breaking a sweat, giving him a look back.
"He was taken aback that I would comprehend the question and provide an answer."
Years later, Cher confronted Spector about using her vocals on a song he released in Europe without her permission.
John Lennon recorded a cover of "A Love Like Yours" with vocals from Cher and Harry Nilsson as a "guide vocal," but later released the single, violating their contracts, according to Entertainment Weekly.
As they conversed, the Oscar-winner claims that Spector threatened her by brandishing a gun and playing with it.
"He might have been a demigod to many, but he acted weird, and I didn’t like how he stared at me." — Cher
She wrote that he said our record companies could sue him if they didn't like it, and then he picked up a revolver that she hadn't previously noticed lying on the green felt.
Cher stood her ground, "Glaring at him with anger, as he played with it, I retorted, 'Don't mess with me, Phillip!'" she recalls. "You can't pull that crap on me, you jerk. This is me, Cher, understand?"
She claimed he apologized and the issue was resolved.
Spector was convicted of murdering actress Lana Clarkson and was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison. He passed away in prison at the age of 81 in 2021.
In her memoir, Cher divulged information about her previous relationships, including her divorce from Gregg Allman just nine days after their marriage.
According to People magazine, she admitted that our wedding day lacked romance.
Nine days after their wedding, Cher and her spouse reconciled.
In 1976, the couple welcomed a son, Elijah Blue Allman, but they ended their relationship for good in 1979.
