Pamela Anderson narrowly escaped death after being mistaken for a Dixie Chick.
In 2003, the Dixie Chicks angered Americans with their remarks about President George W. Bush.
Pamela Anderson is easily recognizable with her distinctive face.
But it happened … and it jeopardized her safety.
During her interview with Josh Horowitz on "Happy Sad Confused," Anderson was queried about being mistaken for another actor while promoting her successful film, "The Last Showgirl."
I remember being on a flight when a man approached me and asked, 'What has this country done for you?' I was taken aback and thought, 'Oh my God, what have I done?'
The disgruntled passenger caused problems throughout the flight, prompting a flight attendant to intervene. The stewardess had to handcuff the passenger to the chair because he was attempting to attack her.
"She shared that he thought she was a Dixie Chick, to the amusement of the live audience. She referenced the controversial comments made by lead singer Natalie Maines in 2003 about then-President George W. Bush. She added, 'Yeah, I almost got killed on a plane.'"
In 2003, The Chicks began their "Top of the World Tour" in London, 11 days before the US invaded Iraq.
Before performing their song "Traveling Soldier," Maines made a comment about the state of America. She stated, "I want to clarify, we are on your side. We do not support this war, this violence, and we are embarrassed that the President of the United States hails from Texas."
The country groups' music was immediately removed from music stations across the country after backlash. Days later, Maines would apologize, but in a later interview, she would maintain her stance. Bush later stated that the women were free to express their opinions, and the comments did not affect him.
Anderson joked that the climactic event she experienced was a "minor" incident, although it did have some impact. She admitted that she was scared to fly after the incident. Although Anderson never disclosed which singer she was mistaken for, both lead singer Maines and founding member Martie Maguire have blonde locks like Anderson.
