Ozempic was advised against by Carnie Wilson's doctor for weight loss: "I didn't want to take any risks."
Carnie Wilson is hosting the show 'Sounds Delicious with Carnie Wilson,' featuring guests such as John Stamos and Mark McGrath.
Last year, Carnie Wilson's doctor cautioned her about the potential severe consequences of using Ozempic, and despite her belief that weight loss medications shouldn't be stigmatized, she ultimately decided it wasn't the best option for her.
"The 55-year-old "Next to You" singer told Planet Chronicle Digital that he was too scared of gastrointestinal side effects and that his doctor warned him about the lack of research on the long-term effects of the medication for weight loss."
She explained that her doctor had sent other patients to the hospital due to side effects from the drug.
"I didn't want to take a risk with my anatomy after having gastric bypass surgery and a lap-band, as I was not prepared for the potential side effects. Therefore, it was not suitable for me. However, I do not judge or criticize those who have undergone or wish to undergo such procedures. Everyone has the right to make their own choices. I, too, believe that some form of intervention can be beneficial in our lives. I am an advocate for this approach."
Carnie Wilson, who is hosting an upcoming cooking show, "Sounds Delicious with Carnie Wilson," stated that her gastric bypass and lap-band aided her in losing weight from 310 pounds to 200 pounds.
"That's incredible," she exclaimed. "I'm so excited about that! I'm not perfect, but I'm much healthier than before. I just want everyone to be healthy. If Ozempic or Mounjaro or any other method works for you, go for it! Let's break the stigma around health and wellness. It's all about improving our lives."
Carnie Wilson claims that the Olympics were not suitable for her because she was too scared.
In September, Wilson learned from her doctor that she was "half a point away from being diabetic" after receiving blood work results. This revelation terrified her and prompted her to say, "That's it." As a result, she started cutting out sugar and gluten two days later.
She stated that she reduced her size by three, but it wasn't her objective.
She explained that she was happy to be smaller, feeling better but it was all about her health.
Since her gastric bypass surgery in 1999, Wilson's weight has fluctuated, with her gaining 60 and 70 pounds during her two pregnancies. Recently, she lost around 40 pounds through the elimination of food, despite not being a big exerciser. She only walks and does not go to the gym for a workout.
She was able to lose weight by eliminating gluten and reducing sugar intake by 95%.
"I've been struggling to maintain my diet without relying on medication or drugs. It's all about self-control," she stated. "I avoid processed foods, sugary treats, and gluten. Although it can be challenging, I'm not feeling deprived."
However, she did admit to really missing bagels.
"She stated that the gluten-free bagels are not the same, they're just not."
"It’s been really hard to do. No pills, no shots, no drugs. It has been purely willpower." — Carnie Wilson on keeping the weight off
The singer, who is known for her hit song "Hold On," has been sober for 20 years and can't believe it.
"In 2004, I decided that I was probably better driving off a cliff 'cause I couldn’t stop drinking."
She acknowledged that she cannot consume any substance without craving more or an excessive amount.
"That freedom is great, and it's compared to being unable to stop, feeling like a prisoner."
She expressed envy towards those who can consume alcohol occasionally, but she "wasn't built that way."
"There is a great deal of acceptance and action, and I must assist others in this situation. I must help those who are like me and understand that they are not alone, and that it is possible to enjoy life and have fun while being sober."
Carnie Wilson has remained sober for 20 years: "What a blessing"
In addition to concentrating on her well-being, Carnie Wilson has recently launched a new cooking program, "Sounds Delicious with Carnie Wilson," in which she prepares meals for famous companions.
She has long desired to do a cooking show and began posting cooking segments on Instagram during the pandemic.
"I have been praying for the right team and concept for many, many years," she said. "I always knew it would happen when the timing was right. It took a long time, but I think sometimes things are worth the wait."
John Stamos, one of Wilson's show guests, was "amusing," she said.
He is undeniably funny and attractive, with a captivating appearance that leaves everyone in awe. Despite my admiration for the other guests, I struggle to concentrate on the recipes due to my starstruck state.
"My show's guests were friends, too, so they're not strangers. It's part of the beauty of it, as it's like sharing the love. Even if they're not famous chefs or big in the kitchen, they all love food and we love each other. You can feel that."
Wilson's goal with her show was to convey the message that people can enjoy various activities such as singing, dancing, cooking, and listening to music. She encouraged her audience to embrace food and music and celebrate them.
The show "Sounds Delicious with Carnie Wilson" premieres on AXS TV on April 16. The guests on the show include John Stamos, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, Wendy Wilson, Mark McGrath, Lisa Loeb, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, and David Archuleta.
