Ozempic rumors swirl, but Christina Aguilera stands firm against haters.
The Grammy Award winner, 44, declares that she has "progressed to the point" where she is no longer concerned with others' opinions of her.
Christina Aguilera is kicking off the new year with an important message.
On Tuesday, the Grammy Award winner posted a video montage to her Instagram featuring various footage of herself throughout the year and received criticism from online haters regarding her physical appearance after rumors of Ozempic use. In her caption, Aguilera emphasized that judgments are unavoidable but no one deserves an explanation.
"This year, embrace change. Remember, you are the author of your own story and the protagonist of your own life. You are unique and no one else can define you. Life is not always easy, and perfection is a myth. Embrace imperfection and keep pushing forward."
"Regardless of what you do or don't do, everyone will judge you. However, acceptance comes from accepting yourself first, even though it may be a challenging journey. I admire everyone who takes small steps every day to improve themselves, showing themselves grace, patience, and respect."
Despite online speculation about whether she has used Ozempic, Aguilera has not publicly confirmed or denied the rumors.
Semaglutide injections, specifically Ozempic, were initially approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treating Type 2 diabetes. However, the medication has gained popularity for weight loss, as well as other similar medications.
The pop singer, who is a mother to Max, 16, and Summer, 10, revealed the pressures she has faced to maintain a certain appearance throughout her career in August.
"According to the speaker, there is a significant difference between a teenager's and a 20-year-old's body. As she grew older, she began to fill out, which was initially unacceptable because it was perceived as her becoming "thicker." However, she received positive feedback from the industry, with people appreciating her body and her appearance as a skinny teenager."
"I have reached a stage where I don't care about your opinion, and it's your responsibility to take up your own space. Other people's opinions about me are not my concern."
In May 2021, Aguilera revealed to Health magazine how the pressures she faced affected her self-esteem as a young woman.
"Aguilera stated that she would never want to relive her 20s because people are so focused on their own self-doubt and insecurities during that time. However, as people age, they learn to appreciate their own bodies and embrace their uniqueness."
"Being true to yourself is the essence of beauty," she stated. "While I enjoy dressing up and posing for the camera, what truly matters is feeling confident and content with who you are when you remove the makeup. It's about embracing your authentic self and owning every aspect of it."
