Nearly quitting her acting career, Demi Moore finally wins her first Golden Globe.
After receiving criticism from a producer, Demi Moore, the star of 'The Substance,' felt 'eroded.'
On Sunday, Demi Moore received her first Golden Globe award for her performance in "The Substance."
Moore, 61, was "in shock" when she stepped on stage to accept the award.
For over 45 years, Moore has been acting and this is his first win.
In "The Substance," Moore played an actress who was abruptly fired from her fitness show at the age of 50, deemed unattractive due to her age.
To further her career, she takes a drug that creates a younger version of herself, portrayed by Margaret Qualley, but it comes with a horrific cost.
Moore recalled a time in her career when a producer told her she was just a "popcorn actress" after catching her breath and expressing her gratitude.
Moore stated that at that time, he interpreted it as meaning that this was not something he was permitted to possess, and that he couldn't be recognized for it.
"I bought in, believing that it would corrode me over time."
At a low point, I thought I was complete and had done what I was supposed to do. However, a bonkers script came across my desk, and the universe told me I'm not done yet.
Moore recalled a woman advising her to cease competing with others and that she would never be "enough," but the key was to recognize her own worth by "putting down the marking stick."
As she exited the stage, the "G.I. Jane" actress stated that the award served as a reminder of her belonging.
