Nashville Waffle House employees are surprised by huge tips from country star Walker Hayes.
Three restaurant employees received $400 each from Hayes and Lexy Burke, who are famously known as the 'Serial Tipper.'
Three Waffle House employees in Tennessee were surprised by country star Walker Hayes when he gave them large tips to celebrate the holiday season.
In Nashville, a restaurant chain location hosted a 44-year-old singer and entrepreneur Lexy Burke, who handed out $1,200 in tips to workers after a meal.
Since May 2020, Burke, a former server, has been supporting food service workers through an online movement she launched called the "Serial Tipper." She collects donations from her followers to provide generous tips to restaurant staff.
Hayes expressed gratitude to Southern Living magazine, stating, "I am truly grateful that Lexy included me in something so generous that she has cultivated."
Being on the receiving end of a gift can be overwhelming, as we've experienced firsthand when people have given us cars during tough times.
Hayes and Burke met up outside a Nashville Waffle House in a joint video posted on Instagram Thursday, with Burke introducing Hayes as a "surprise contributor."
"You ready to tip?" Burke asked Hayes.
"Let's give these people a big tip," he said, grinning.
Burke conversed with a waitress at the restaurant, who revealed that she also works at a hospital. The server was impressed by Hayes' presence in the restaurant and exclaimed to Burke, "Wow, he entered while I was working. I rarely get to see anyone attractive here."
While Hayes ordered from the waitress, another employee played his song "Fancy Like Christmas" on the jukebox.
"He stated, "I am attempting to add the Waffle Hayes to the menu. This dish is a waffle with two over-easy eggs, bacon, and cheese, all folded like a taco.""
The waitress informed him that customers would enter and obtain that.
Hayes stated, "That's what I want if they get it."
Burke informed the waitress and two other staff members about her serial tipping initiative after finishing their meal.
"She asked for spare change on her social media every holiday season and her friend Walker also contributed."
Burke informed the employees, who were taken aback, that they would receive $400 each for a collective sum of $1,200.
Before assuring them that Burke was serious, Hayes asked, "What's up?"
"One worker exclaimed, "On my God," to which Hayes responded, "I know!""
"A lot of love came from many people who wanted to make your night better, as Burke stated."
Burke gave the waitress a stack of $100 bills while Hayes cheered.
"Can I hug you?" the waitress asked.
The waitress said, "I'm going to hug everybody. Thank you so much," after the two hugged.
The employees thanked Burke's followers at the end of the video.
Hayes, who gained fame with his 2021 hit "Fancy Like," struggled for over a decade as an aspiring singer-songwriter and worked at a Costco in Nashville. In a July 2023 interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, he revealed his battle with alcoholism.
Craig Cooper, a pastor, helped the father of six embrace sobriety and his faith.
Hayes stated to Southern Living that he never imagined they would have much to offer anyone.
He expressed his gratitude, particularly during this time of year, to assist anyone in any way possible.
