''Mormon Wives' Star: Arrest Could Have Saved My Life After Swingers Sex Scandal'
In 2023, Taylor Frankie Paul was taken into custody for charges related to domestic violence.
Taylor Frankie Paul, a Mormon TikTok star, is discussing her arrest on domestic violence charges following her notorious swingers sex scandal.
Paul, a 30-year-old member of Mormon MomTok, caused a stir on TikTok in 2022 when she announced her divorce from her ex-husband Tate Paul and revealed more about their "soft swinging" lifestyle, which included some of her friends in her videos.
In February 2023, Paul was arrested and charged with domestic violence. In a recent interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Paul, who is starring in the new Hulu reality series "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," reflected on her run-in with the law and the impact it had on her.
"In a joint appearance with co-star Jessi Ngatikaura, Paul stated that the one they faced was extremely challenging, and it was the most difficult experience they had gone through."
I delved deeper into the emotional topic on the show and learned from it.
"Hitting rock bottom was a turning point for me," Paul said. "It pushed me to go up, and I believe it was a blessing in disguise. Despite how bad that night was, it may have saved my life in a strange way. I'll share more about this on the show."
Paul was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury and criminal mischief after his arrest, according to Herriman police in Salt Lake County.
In March 2023, a complaint was filed in Salt Lake County accusing Paul of throwing a phone, a wooden play set, and "heavy metal chairs" at his boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. The complaint alleged that one of the chairs struck one of Paul's children who was sitting next to Mortensen on the couch during their argument, as stated in an affidavit.
In August of that year, she was found guilty of aggravated assault and the other four charges were dismissed.
Paul has stated that he and Tate, who share Indy, 6, and Ocean, 3, are on "good terms." Following their separation, Paul started dating Mortenson. Seven weeks into their relationship, Paul disclosed that she and Mortenson were expecting their first child together, but she experienced an ectopic pregnancy.
Despite their tumultuous past, including a domestic violence arrest, Paul and Mortenson remain together. Mortenson frequently appears in Paul's videos and photos, and the couple welcomed their son Ever in March 2024.
The book "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" explores the aftermath of Paul's "soft swinging" confession and the sex scandal that affected the other women in the videos.
The influencer revealed in her 2022 TikTok livestream that she and Tate had agreed to a lifestyle that included having multiple partners. She stated that they were engaged in "soft swinging" with a group of their friends, who were also married Mormon couples.
Paul admitted that he "stepped out of the agreement" with one of the other husbands in the group, despite the group having an agreement that they "wouldn't go all the way" with their other partners.
During the livestream, Paul admitted that he made a mistake and was losing everything he had.
Paul asserted that "everyone was guilty" in the swingers group and that "everyone had hooked up with everyone."
She revealed that her split with Tate was due to "other issues," but "this was just the beginning."
Taylor Frankie Paul, the star of 'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,' discusses her domestic violence arrest following a swingers sex scandal.
Following the revelation of the scandal, there were rumors that other members of MomTok may have been involved in "soft swinging." Some members denied the allegations on social media, while others remained silent. No one has yet confirmed their participation.
During an interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, Paul explained the overlap between MomTok and her swingers group, stating that the two were "a little bit intertwined." She also mentioned that "maybe only one" member of MomTok was involved in the other group, who she described as "all intimate with each other."
"I came out, and it broke the internet. MomTok was involved, and the public assumed everyone was swingers. It quickly gained attention and became a topic of discussion. It was a sensation."
Paul stated, "We were offered a TV show, which provided me with an opportunity to share my perspective, regardless of whether those involved or affected by it were part of the story or not."
The MomTok group was "shaken" by the scandal, according to Ngatikaura's statement to Planet Chronicle Digital.
"As we were close internet friends, people assumed everyone in MomTok was involved in our group. This made it difficult to handle accusations thrown at us due to misunderstandings. As a result, our friendship group disbanded."
The show's cast differs from the actual MomTok group due to the controversy. Many people were against Taylor and MomTok, causing tension. My focus was on maintaining the friendship and ensuring Taylor's well-being. Despite the challenges, it was evident on the show.
The star of "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" wanted to share her perspective on the show after the swingers sex scandal.
In addition to Paul and Ngatikaura, "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" features Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, Whitney Leavitt, Demi Engemann, Jennifer Affleck, and Layla Taylor.
A group of Mormon mom influencers' scandalous world collapses when they become embroiled in an international swinging sex scandal.
"The sisterhood of the MomTok influencers is at risk, with faith, friendships, and reputations all hanging in the balance. Will they be able to overcome this challenge and maintain their position as the reigning queens of social media, or will they falter and lose their status?"
The show will feature the husbands and partners of the women involved in the scandal, as well as how they coped with its aftermath.
Tate was "in shock" after revealing their swingers lifestyle on TikTok, as Paul told Planet Chronicle Digital.
"When it hit the internet, everyone was in survival mode and, like, 'What's going on?'" she recalled. "Tate kind of quieted down and kind of just wanted to mind his own business."
Paul stated, "He has disconnected from social media and is now living a contented life, which fills me with joy."
The ex-husband of the Mormon wives in 'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' was reportedly stunned after their swingers sex scandal was exposed online.
Some husbands became insecure about their marriages due to the scandal, as explained by Ngatikaura.
"The husbands in the group who were unaware of the swinging scandal were shocked and worried about their own relationships being affected. This led to jealousy and insecurity among them, which was shown on the show. The scandal caused a lot of relationships to be rocked, but it may have also made them stronger in the end."
On Sept. 6, all eight episodes of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" will be accessible on Hulu.
