Miranda Lambert and her cop husband took a "risk" with their relationship after only three months together: "No risk, no reward."
In 2019, the singer of the Wranglers and a former NYPD officer secretly got married.
Miranda Lambert took a shot at love with her husband, Brendan McLoughlin.
The country star divulged details about her romance with her "hot cop" spouse and disclosed the reasons behind her decision to take a risk and commit after just three months of knowing him.
During a US Weekly cover interview, Lambert stated, "I took a chance; without risk, there can be no reward."
The singer, who grew up in a family of first responders, shared that her decision was influenced by her background. She also spoke fondly of her former police officer husband from New York and how she was raised differently.
"I kind of went for it; no risk, no reward." — Miranda Lambert
"Texans are very true to themselves, as in 'Come on in, but if you don't like us, we don't care.' New Yorkers are similar, but less polite. I felt like the worst possible outcome had already happened to me. If it ends, it ends."
Despite their cultural backgrounds being different, Lambert realized McLoughlin was the one.
Lambert stated that she had nothing to lose when asked if she "didn’t hesitate to take a gamble."
"Will you ever experience the deep love that everyone desires, which is the subject of many songs and movies, if you don't risk putting yourself out there? Although I am cautious in many aspects of my life, when it comes to my heart, I believe that there is nothing to lose. Pain may be an inevitable part of life, but it eventually fades away."
Lambert confessed that her husband has challenged her in "healthy" ways.
"I love being called out because it's healthy for artists and celebrities to surround themselves with honest people. Surrounding yourself with a group of yes people won't take you very far in the long run," she said.
Although she initially thought their love was random, Lambert now believes it was meant to be.
"He is a wonderful friend who is very supportive, but he does his own thing. I also had the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time in New York. We resided in an apartment in Soho, and I was able to explore the city and fully immerse myself in its culture."
In 2019, the couple quietly tied the knot, just a few months after meeting.
The two revealed what a typical night at home is like for them.
"We're pretty laid-back. When we're not working, I'm in my backyard hangout mode. We'll mix drinks and jam to tunes. Occasionally, we'll throw the best parties just for us," she emphasized.
"He enjoys listening to Matchbox 20 and Goo Goo Dolls during what he calls "happy hour music." Although we have different musical tastes, we can sit together for hours and enjoy the music. Sometimes, I tease him by saying that we are living on a date, which he finds amusing."
Lambert and Shelton were previously married, tying the knot in 2011 but parting ways in 2015.
