Mike Rinder, a co-host on the television series 'Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,' has passed away at the age of 69.
In 2023, Mike Rinder was diagnosed with advanced esophageal cancer.
On Sunday, Mike Rinder, a co-host on the A&E show "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath," passed away at the age of 69.
Christie Collbran, Mike's wife, posted a family photo on Instagram featuring their son Jack and her son Shane over the weekend to share some news.
"Rest in peace, my sweet, beautiful husband," Collbran wrote. "I speak for so many when I say the sadness and pain we feel mirror the depth of our unwavering love for you. Your courage, bravery, and integrity are unmatched and will forever inspire us."
Michael John Rinder, you have been the pillar of stability in our lives, filling our days with your strength, wisdom, love, laughter, and devotion. The world will remember you. My best friend, my hero, my love, Michael John Rinder.
Farewell" was the title of Collbran's final blog post, which was posted on his website on Sunday and included "these last words as per Mike’s wishes.
"You have been the pillar of stability in our lives, filling our days with your strength, wisdom, love, laughter and devotion." — Christie Collbran, Mike Rinder's wife
Rinder stated that his website was a result of his passion, before concluding, "I am fortunate to have experienced two lives in one lifetime, the best years anyone could hope for, with all of you and my new family!"
He continued, "My only regret is not having accomplished what I promised to do - put an end to Scientology's abuses, particularly disconnection, and help Jack grow up. If you are in any way working to stop those abuses, keep fighting - never give up."
Rinder concluded his post with the words of Cicero: "The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living."
Rinder did not reveal a cause of death, but in a June 2023 blog post, he announced that he had been diagnosed with advanced esophageal cancer. In October, he shared that his "latest scan did not show any cancer" and that "treatment is working."
From the age of five, Rinder was a member of the Church of Scientology, but he left the church in 2007, as stated on his website's bio.
He has authored a memoir titled "A Billion Years: My Exodus from the Elite of Scientology" and also co-hosts a TV show and a podcast with "The Kings of Queens" actress Leah Remini.
Over the holidays, Mike's family was visited by Remini on Instagram, who shared a photo of herself hugging him while he lay in bed and wrote about the love and care shown to them.
Christie Collbran is an angel who manages her household, two boys, and dotes over her husband with strength and grace.
Rinder's sons, Shane and Jack, have been incredibly strong and supportive for their dad/stepdad. Despite the challenges they've faced, we are all incredibly proud of them.
Mike is bravely fighting cancer, and your messages of support uplift his spirits. Please pray for Mike, Christie, and their two boys. Let's surround them with love and strength.
In 2016, "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath" premiered and was later awarded a Creative Arts Emmy for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special in 2020.
