Meghan Markle and Prince Harry deny split rumors amid divorce speculation.
The Duke of Sussex expresses sympathy towards online trolls who criticize his relationship with Meghan Markle.
During a summit in New York on Tuesday, Prince Harry tackled rumors about his marriage with Meghan Markle.
During a 35-minute interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times Dealbook Summit 2024, Harry, 40, discussed a variety of topics, including his interest in the royal's personal life, while being hosted at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes' union has been the subject of intense speculation recently, with royal experts predicting that divorce may be imminent for the couple.
"I searched for news about you, and people were intrigued by your constant activities. They're captivated by Meghan, who is currently in California, and you're present here," Sorkin stated.
"Why are you organizing independent events instead of doing them together?"
Harry responded, "You should have anticipated my attendance since you invited me."
"You should have known this was going to happen," he added.
Harry confessed that it was "definitely not a good thing" that there was so much interest in him and his wife, citing rumors he'd heard about them.
"We've bought or moved house 10, 12 times, and apparently divorced just as many times. So what's the point?"
The Duke of Sussex felt remorse for those who believed his marriage was struggling.
"Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?'" — Prince Harry
"He stated, "It's difficult to keep up with, but that's why you just ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are constantly built up, and it's like, 'Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,' and then it doesn't happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.""
According to Kinsey Schofield, host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, it is unclear if the Sussexes were working independently or towards a separation.
"The Sussexes have not achieved anything significant since last summer when Rolling Stone ran the story, 'Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are in Their Flop Era,'" she stated. "Are they still technically in their flop era?"
"I won't clap for Prince Harry's networking skills, as I expect more from him. However, if he continues to work independently from Meghan after the new year, it's worth discussing what a professional divorce would mean for them personally."
In 2020, two years after their wedding at Windsor Castle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relinquished their senior royal duties and relocated to California.
Meghan and Harry, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are expected to attend the Paley Center for Media event Tuesday night in Los Angeles in honor of Tyler Perry.
