Mayim Bialik embarks on a journey to discover the secrets of shamans and healers in pursuit of a long, healthy life.
An upcoming documentary, 'Mom & Dad's Nipple Factory,' was executive produced by a 'Big Bang Theory' alum.
Mayim Bialik, at 48 years old, has shifted her priorities. She is excited to embrace new life changes and experiment with fresh approaches for her well-being.
In an exclusive interview with Planet Chronicle Digital, "The Big Bang Theory" alum discussed her approach to her son's college education and her interest in ancient traditions for a healthy and long life.
Mayim Bialik is both an executive producer on the upcoming documentary "Mom & Dad's Nipple Factory" and the host of her podcast, "Mayim Bialik's Breakdown."
Bialik and her co-creator Cohen launched their podcast in 2020 with the goal of discussing various health care treatments and approaches from a "scientific perspective." This eventually led to Bialik's openness to change.
Bialik stated that they tackled something that both he and Jonathan were interested in, which involved discussing shamans, healers, energy work, and attempting to comprehend the science behind it.
"Ayurvedic medicine has been using food as medicine for thousands of years, but it has taken the West a little bit to catch up. It has to do with political subsidies. I'm glad to be learning about it for my own health and my kids' health, as well as to share it with others so that people can get more information."
Bialik, who disclosed last month that she was receiving hyperbaric treatments for her autoimmune-related health problems, stated that many of these discussions provide a safe environment for those experiencing similar circumstances or seeking alternative solutions.
Women in the perimenopause and postmenopause stages of life are increasingly speaking up about autoimmune conditions, and there are many immunological conversations about why immune systems behave differently in women.
"We can no longer ignore the impact of our diet, thoughts, work, and relaxation on our body's ability to defend itself," she stated.
"I'm curious if hyperbaric treatments can support my health," she said. "I enjoy going in there and sometimes feel more energized when I come out. However, it's not like taking ibuprofen. The effects may not be immediately noticeable. Not everything can be fixed with a pill. Sometimes we need to support our systems, and there are many things that do that. I hope that hyperbaric treatments are one of them."
Bialik, who will turn 49 later this year, said she's confidently entering this new phase and is thankful for her podcast as a secure platform to discuss these matters.
As we age, one of the greatest joys is no longer caring about others' opinions of us," she stated. "In our youth, we often focused on meeting others' expectations, such as how we looked or what we did. However, as we grow older, we learn to place less importance on others' plans for us or their thoughts and perceptions about us.
"We have spoken to numerous health experts who emphasize the importance of not only living a long life but also maintaining good health, being able to physically lift up grandkids, exercising, and moving without joint pain. As I have already experienced the benefits of changing my diet, I plan to continue on this path."
Bialik is preparing for another significant change as her son Miles is heading off to college while continuing to focus on health and wellness.
Bialik, who shares Miles, 18, and son Frederick, 16, with ex-husband Michael Stone, said that it's a lot more emotional than she had anticipated and she's leaning heavily on friends who have already sent their kids to college.
While I am genuinely happy for my children to be independent and make their own choices, there is also a sense of nostalgia. My kids were homeschooled their entire lives, and my older one didn't attend high school until 11th grade. As a result, I'm used to having my kids around a lot. Homeschooling them meant they were always present, so it's definitely an adjustment to let them go.
"Although I'm happy for him to find his passions and interests, I'm also relieved that my high schooler is still at home. However, this shift in family dynamics brings about an exciting time with many transitions. I'm glad to have a mental health podcast to provide me with the tools and resources needed to navigate these changes. Our guests often discuss these topics, so I'm grateful for their insights."
The title of the film, 'Mom & Dad's Nipple Factory,' was quite surprising to me," Bialik admitted, "as it highlights Johnson's family business that specializes in creating custom prosthetic nipples for breast cancer survivors.
To truly comprehend the story, one must witness it firsthand. This narrative not only chronicles the journey of someone's life when they are diagnosed with breast cancer but also encompasses their entire life story, which ultimately influences their self-image when they are affected by the disease.
As a lactation educator counselor, I was brought on to the project to speak about this topic. Johnson's parents, who are very sweet and quiet, recognized my expertise as a scientist and a person of faith. They believed these qualities were important in raising awareness about the topic. I am grateful to have been included in the project to educate more people about it.
"She added, 'It's such a fascinating story. It's a strange little rom-com that involves a nipple factory in this guy's sister's bedroom. But it's a really, really sweet story and, in particular, it's a love story about what the husband of this family devises.'"
The limited theatrical release of 'Mom & Dad's Nipple Factory' starts on Sept. 6, while the VOD release begins on Sept. 10.
